soupParticipantNext week would be a statement win. The last two weeks have been handing it to teams we should be beating.
Mayfield did a great job of taking refs out of it. There was a clear pass interference on 2nd down. Wound up 3rd and long. Mayfield converted it.
Having a real QB is amazing especially with a staff doing it right.
Cincy tightened their run D and was stopping Chubb. He still got 27 carries.
If we get an early lead next week, we need to keep that foot on the gas and put up more points.
Overall your point is dead on. You are responsible for beating the refs. No complaints the last 3 weeks and we’ve scored 12 TDS. The new day seems finally here

IceKeymasterHanding it to teams we should be beating? NO ONE had us beating the Falcons. On paper they should have destroyed us and that’s what I went into the game expecting. We were 0-16 last year. There’s no team in the NFL we should be beating. It’s us against the world.
When you say we’re handing it to teams we should be beating you’re taking all the credit away from the players and coaches that played their asses off in those wins.

Cincy was 5-5 and Atlanta is 4-7.
Houston is currently 7-3 (whether they are 8-3 or 7-4 after tonight, they are legit).
Basing things off last year is asinine. Or are the Eagles winning the Super Bowl this year?
It’s the thing I’ve learned living in Pittsburgh. It’s why my expectations are high.
Atlanta isn’t a good team and Cincy, especially without AJ Green, isn’t a good team. We throttled both of them. The true test will be Houston to gauge where we are at. It should be a tight game. We need to win it to make a real statement

For a team that won 1 game in the previous 2 seasons, we shouldn’t be expected to beat anybody bro lol.

I see your point. I’m actually pretty amped up for this game now.

the dudeParticipantClassic Loser Hue apologist. Let’s blame the ref’s on all of the Browns bad penalties and not on the coach who should be coaching discipline, being prepared, and quite simply a game plan.
But whatever you do, keep making fun of me for stating that I think these guys half assed it in practice all year long.
I truly believe that Williams is working these guy’s asses off and making them be discipline players. The only thing I can hope for is that these players will take and appreciate the time they have with Williams.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

You’re fucking ignorant.

IceKeymasterDawson is taking trolling to a new level. I can almost feel Shooter’s rage everytime he types “Loser Hue”.
Soup we just fired our HC and OC the week before that ATL game. Then we went out and dominated a team that many had going to the playoffs. We dominated on offense, defense, and special teams in a way that the Browns haven’t done in a LONG time. If that wasn’t a statement game I don’t know what is. The statement is “The old Browns are gone. This is the new Browns and we’re gonna be a force for the next decade.” That was the statement made during the ATL game.

I dunno, I hear what you’re saying too, but Soup has a point. If we can do it against a playoff team, a team that everyone agrees is really good, THEN it really proves a point. Beating ATL and Cinci is surely a step in the right direction, but I think for it to be a “statement” win, you really need to excel against good competition. I don’t consider The Falcons and Bengals good competition, they both suck.

Exactly. Our standards must be higher. The Steelers are 7-3-1 and after yesterday’s loss you’d think someone cut off their puppies head in front of the family. That’s how miserable everyone is.

ParticipantThe Browns were
1-15 in 2016
0-16 in 2017
2-5-1 in 2018 under Hue Jackson
Cincy is 0-2 w/Hue Jackson, just as an FYI.
Hue as head coach of Browns & they were 3-36-1.The Browns are 2-1 under Greg Williams.
To say we’re besting teams were supposed to beat is laughable. When have we been favored this year?
The Falcons has won 3 in a row and seemed to be getting back on track.
Cincy was favored even though they have the worst defense in the NFL.
Our OL dominated and part of that was Bakers ability to scramble. While we played a horrible second half on offense it was still enough to win.The Browns are on the right track. One bad or a few bad calls doesn’t ruin us anymore. We actually have some room for errors although Williams sees it and knows there is still plenty of room for improvement.
I’m enjoying Sunday’s although this weekend from Thanksgiving on was great.
Thursday – Great day with family.
Friday – Cavs 1st win on road/76ers 1st loss at home.
Saturday – Buckeyes embarrassed TSUN. Cavs beat Rockets in Cle.
Sunday Browns embarrassed Cincy in Cincy.
If you didn’t notice the Browns are now 2-1-1 in division.
Last 3 weeks Mayfield has 9 TDs & 1 Int. He is 55-88 771 Yds
At Cincy 19-26 258 yds 4 Tds
Vs Atl 17-20 216 Yds 3 TDs
Vs KC 29-42 297 Yds 2 TDs 1 IntMayfield rookie of week vs KC
Chubb Rookie of week vs Atl
Mayfield probably gets RoW again s Cincy.Future looking bright & we still have more to do this year. Going into our 12 game & we aren’t thinking draft or wondering when this season will be over.
Next week will be a tough game but regardless of the outcome teams can’t just expect to show up and win against us.
I’m enjoying this.November 27, 2018 at 7:12 am #14493
IceKeymasterExactly. Our standards must be higher. The Steelers are 7-3-1 and after yesterday’s loss you’d think someone cut off their puppies head in front of the family. That’s how miserable everyone is.
You do realize that ‘our standards’ here on a message board actually do not affect how the team plays, right? Positive thoughts, even by a bunch of attractive intelligent men like us, don’t change the score.
November 27, 2018 at 7:13 am #14494
soupParticipantSet low expectations and the team will reward you with low results. I don’t care about the idiots who thought Ward and Mayfield were stupid picks. We beat teams we should be beating. Period.
Was Mayfield our QB the last 2 years? No. Last year it was a UDFA caliber player we stupidly drafted in round 2.
We stupidly drafted a weak bodied midget bust in Coleman in year 1 of Sashi.
Different GM, different team. Expect to win.
I expect to win out the year. You should too

EXACTLY. Who is looking forward to the rest of THIS season? I sure as hell am! We probably aren’t going to the playoffs but I’m still looking forward to Sundays again. I’m not thinking “How are we gonna fuck this one up” or “I wonder if the refs are gonna steal this win from us.”

mike barnesParticipantThis team is on the right track our last 2 wins were more than just wins we actually looked like a real competent football team period the margin between winning and losing in the NFL is very small maybe what 3 or 4 plays a game? when was the last time BB ( before Baker ) when we’d be backed up inside the 10 yard line and you’d feel hey no problem we’ve got this or how about a third and long we used to come up short by a yard because our QB was a noodle arm or the WR ran the route short. No sir maybe the Bengals and the Falcons aren’t super bowl bound but they’re fine clubs who put up points in bunches and now we compete week in week out.

All the Browns wins have come against bad defenses. To continue to get better they have to start producing vs quality defensive teams.
A Win against the Texans this weekend would be very helpful, as they need to contunue learn how to win on the road and against a good defense.

ParticipantBoys, I’ve been on vacation, so I didn’t get to see the game. Followed the score though, got a chance to read about it afterwords, and wow. Anybody saying this wasn’t a statement win is high on life.
They didn’t just “win a game they should win.” They were up like 35–7. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?? we have had 4 wins total the past 3 years. The last double digit victory came BEFORE TRUMP ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY FOR PRESIDENT, and now we get double digit wins in CONSECUTIVE GAMES??!!
Not only that, but it came against a divisional rival at their field. We’ve been a doormat in the division for years. Somehow, everybody expects we’ll split games with Cincy, but news flash: we haven’t been splitting them. And we ran it up on them.
Add to that, the swagger to hand Hue Jackson the ball after a pick. Are you kidding me??! Did nobody else see Kyle Shanahan go to Atlanta and tear it up? Anybody else see pat shurmer talked about like some offensive guru with the Eagles?? Wasn’t it amazing to flip the script for ONCE!!?
Look, there are 2 ways to make a statement. One is to beat a really good team that nobody thought you would beat. The other is take take an average team and PANTS THEM ON THEIR OWN TURF. That’s what we did. And then Baker told Hue to shove it up his ass while walking off the field.
I don’t know about you guys, but I had a damn fine Sunday walking around the resort I was at, drunk off my ass, yelling about Baker Mayfield and the Browns. And it’s been a long time since I could say the Browns made my Sunday better. And I could get used to this.

One of the things I noticed that Baldy din’t mnetion was that Tretter and the OL aren’t sliding protections to pick up over load blitzs. That needs to change.
