ShooterModeratorI have no idea why the NFL even bothers to put on this irrelevant, uninteresting, and horribly outdated farce of a game.
And the week prior to the Superbowl? Dafuq?
The league needs to just get rid of the entire format and move to something more like a skills competition. Break out the jugs machines. Set up a gauntlet. Line some cones up. Anything would be better than what they have the balls to call a “game”. Horrible. I haven’t watched one since the 90’s.

They have that. It’s called the combine.
I’ll never forget probably 20 years ago watching the NFL QB’s compete over who could throw the furthest, and Favre tossing it over 84 yards in the air.
I say make the Probowl a flag football tournament, they’re just playing 2-hand-touch out there now anyway. Flag football with silly trick plays and bending of the rules. And along with it there should be a ‘celebration’ contest. Make the 3rd quarter be the crazy quarter where offensive players are forced to play defense, and defenders are forced to play offense including QB. Don’t give me a pathetic mockery of the actual sport, embrace the fact that it is silly.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantThey should team up with the NBA and combine the All-Star game and the Pro Bowl into a mixed-league sporting biathalon, with the West/NFC vs the East/AFC. It would get better ratings than either one individually, would be more entertaining, and I feel like there’d be a sense on “one upmanship” of competing athlete’s from other sports which would make it at least watchably competitive.

ParticipantThey could have the game if they gave the players a real financial reason to play. Right now, I think the winners get 75k and losers 25k. At least that’s what it was a couple years ago. That’s the cost of a fine for some in season infractions.
Give the players a reason a play, and the game becomes interesting. Otherwise, don’t bother having it.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantI’d love the ability to chuckle off $50k for giving extra effort for two hours at something I was already doing.

Exactly. But make it better. Add some American Gladiators/Titan Games flair to it lol.

I was just talking to a friend about this and I said “they should just play a flag football game. It would be far more entertaining. Find a way to switch it up too so that the defensive players play offense and the offensive players play defense. People would watch that.”
It’s fun when we’re on the same page.

IceKeymasterSo it took us yahoos about 1 day to fix something the NFL has been bitten by for years. All our ideas can easily be combined and I’d watch the hell out of it. It would be awesome if they included the NBA too but now we’re just dreaming.
One thing we forgot… lets put the players in bubble wrap to protect them. Literally. Put them in sports bubbles and let them play soccer.

Or even better, sumo wrestling. Tape off a circle on the ground and last guy still in the circle wins. And tri-cycle races. Who wouldn’t pay to watch a bunch of 300 pound pro athletes compete in tri-cycle races?

MDP Sack AttackParticipantI suppose the cautionary tale is the MLB All-Star game, where they have something to play for (home field advantage in the World Series), and the result is a 4 or 5 hour long game which is not good because there aren’t actual teams.

IceKeymasterAgree. I want something ridiculous and fun, that showcases the amazing physical talents of NFL players. If it’s an NFL version of American Gladiators then that’s great.
