Browns RB Kareem Hunt will be missing the first 8 games of the season, I thought that was about the right amount.

Well if you ask Dude, not only is this a travesty of justice, but the Rosa Parks of the NFL should have statue erected of himself outside the stadium. Probably right next to the statue of the other wife beater.

    Fight the good fight Kareem!

for those that didn’t know, Hunt is a restricted free agent nin 2020. So the Browns have 2 pro bowl level backs for the next 2 years for pennies on the dollar.

Meaningless to me. Hunts punishment should be playing the entire season with no pads or helmet. Then maybe these scumbags will learn. Look at Tyreek Hill. Choked a pregnant woman and potentially broke his sons arm today. Put me in a room with that POS and five me a bat. Maybe then he’ll learn

I dunno , unless your infraction incident or crime happen at the work place. I am not a fan of having the work place having anything to do with “crime & punishment as it were. Other than letting a person go because they couldn’t be at work because they were in jail.

Just like I don’t think a person should ever be fired for speech outside the work place. This big brother BS is garbage IMO.

BTW this post isn’t Hunt specific. I realise he violated his contracts policy on behavior.

Ok soup if an altercation isn’t bad enough to get Law enforcement involved what business is it of a work place to pass judgement if it didn’t affect work?

I’m not sticking up for scumbags, I just think the work place should mind it its own damn business unless it was part of what took place.

She has to be the one to press charges. Many abused women don’t press charges. That doesn’t mean they aren’t abused

Here’s the thing, we have to be careful how we’re using this “in the workplace” narrative because it’s not so cut and dry. The NFL isn’t just “a job” Playing in the NFL is not at all the same as working construction. At Fred’s contracting service, all of Fred’s employees are not subject to a public code of conduct and strict stipulations on what they can and can’t do when they’re not “working”. If JoeBob the drywall guy wants to spend his weekend blowing coke and slapping hookers on the ass on the Las Vegas strip, Fred doesn’t give a shit because what JoeBob does on his time is his own business. As long as he’s not doing it on Monday when the new job is being built, Fred doesn’t give a shit.

Being a running back for the NFL however has a very strict set of rules where behavior like that is going to get you in big ass trouble. And every player in the NFL agrees to those rules, and that personal code of conduct policy, when they join the league as a player.

It’s not so easy to say “in the workplace” because the reality is the workplaces between us and NFL plaers are very, very different and the comparison just isn’t the same at all.

*Oh I am all about conduct while under contract. But I am against the idea of an employer policing it’s workers unless something occured at the work place. Or the worker got put in jail.

*I had all kinds of rules and regulations I was under when I was still in the Army under contract.

You’re right to a certain extent, Shooter. What an employee (in the world that most of us are familiar with)does on his/her free time is his/her own business . . . unless the residual affects make their way back to the workplace. And if those residual affects do indeed make their way back to the workplace; then an employer or supervisor has every right to be disappointed, upset and even angry at said employee. You cannot show up to work drunk or high on some recreational drug and have any reasonable expectations that you won’t be fired from your job. There are still matters of personal conduct that businesses will adhere to.

The NFL is indeed an entirely different world than what most of us know. You have to take a drug test anytime an NFL Labs representative shows up at your door. You have to notify the League/Team if you’re going on a vacation during the offseason so that the League can have a representative show up at your hotel room or on your cruise ship if your number comes up for testing. Some player contracts prevent players from doing such things like skydiving, water skiing, parasailing and other activities which the team considers to be too hazardous. And there is that personal conduct code of which you spoke.

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

Exactly. That’s why I stated “as long as he’s not doing it on Monday back at the job”.

It also depends on the job. If you’re a bartender and get your 3rd DUI in 7 years, they don’t really care as long as you can still get to work somehow. If you’re say, a vice principal at a middle school, you’re most likely getting fired.

It depends on the job you have and what the expectations of that job are when not actually, at, the job.

NFL players have a very specific set of rules they must adhere to, and they all agree to adhere to them before they come into the league.
