The Tampa Bay Bucs released DT Gerald McCoy today maybe Dorsey will make a move?

It really depends on how much pride he’s willing to swallow. On our team he’d be a rotational DT. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind that cut in on-field work, but would he mind the cut in pay that comes with it?

Can’t hurt to enquire. Having three DTs to keep their legs fresh would be awesome, especially late in close games. I could definitely see him splitting time evenly with Richardson and Ogunjobi, just depends on if the money could work out.

I meant they’d all become part of a starting rotation. But it would be a lot less than he’s been on the field in Tampa. It would be good for his knees and maybe even his career but it would hurt his checkbook.

I just realized, reading this article, that a player has a choice between Cleveland and New England, and I really think he might choose the Browns. Remarkable.

    He’s meeting with Dorsey.

He won’t leave Cleveland without a contract.

Now all we need to do is sign Eric Berry, and we’re set. John Dorsey is using the Infinity Gauntlet.

Just posting a corroborating source. Sometimes folks put out bad reports in order to be 1st and end up as fake news. That’s just the journalistic landscape these days.

Browns and Gerald McCoy have concluded their visit. No contract, but discussions “ongoing.” per Tony’s Twitter account.

It occurs to me that, at this point in the off-season, he can go to a contender OR get $10 million, but not likely both

I wonder if DOrsey considers paying the 10 mil just to keep him away from the ravens….?

If he signs here he’s going to be a rotational player. I don’t mean that in a bad way either, if we add him our depth on the D-line would allow for an impactful and ferociously disruptive D-lineman to always be fresh on the line, and that shit would be absolutely devastating to the other team.

That said, a rotational player is not going to get paid 10 mil a year. If he says he wants to win, and winning is what’s most important………….then signing here should be his choice. I know I know, Patriots Patriots Patriots……but Brady is 42. At some point that run is ending, and it can happen at any moment. When it does it will be fast. Baltimore? A solid team, but the reality is that D coordinators are going to clog up every running lane possible and force Lamar Jackson to throw the football. Best of luck to them when that happens because that shit isn’t going to go well. The Bengals blow so there’s no reason to even mention them.

If his true desire is to win and go to the team that gives him the best chance to do that, then it’s a no-brainer for him to sign here. We’re young and we’re stacked. Period.

If it’s money he wants, he’ll be in purple, watching the playoffs. Or maybe even worse in New England getting beat when it counts by the team that he turned down.

Here’s where I think the rubber meets the road . . . Myles Garrett is in the third year of a five year contract, and will get Pro Bowl DE money his second contract. If the Browns sign McCoy for more than one year, it can only be for 2 years with a club option for a third at the MOST.

Are the Browns looking to sign him to a one year “prove it” deal or are they willing to go two or three years? Just because Cleveland is still well under the salary cap does not necessarily mean that they’re willing to shell out huge NFL pay scale dollars for a DT who’s already 31 years old. I think that John Dorsey is willing to test the waters, and is even willing to sign McCoy; but only if the contract dollars and years make sense for the overall well-being of the Cleveland Browns organization.

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

I don’t think you sign McCoy for anything but a 1 year deal. Age is an issue and you don’t break the bank for a rotational player. Tons of our guys are going to need new contracts next year and it is going to be stifling the year after that. You may be choosing between the 2nd year of Gerald McCoy or Joe Schobert, Demarious Randall, or Greg Robinson.

Also keep in mind that the Browns drafted two linebackers this year . . . just saying.

Schefty is reporting that McCoy is signing with Carolina.

I would’ve liked to see him in Brown and Orange, but I’m still considering him signing with Carolina over Baltimore a win.

My only guess on this is that he gets the chance t play the Bucs twice a year and he likes the chance for some sweet sweet revenge lol.
