Johnny Manziel finally gave the press what they wanted; full access. He spoke to reporters today for the first time since last season.
He’s saying a lot of the right things. First and foremost:
The money sign will not be back. I won’t be making it.
That’s a welcome change but a year too late in my opinion. I’m sure we’ll still see it on the field though whenever he gets sacked.
Asked why he is finally coming forward and speaking to the press, he replied:
Off the field, I was a little bit of a distraction: I feel bad about that today. I feel bad about that throughout the last months of my life really thinking back and seeing how much of my life outside of this field and outside of this locker room was documented. It’s not fair for Joe Haden to be having to answer questions about me every day. It’s not fair for Joe Thomas and all these guys to just continue to have questions asked about me. I don’t think that’s fair at all, and I don’t want that on them. That’s part of the reason why I’m up here today, to finally get me out here and get me answering these questions because I don’t think it’s fair for them. While they’re my teammates, I think there’s other questions about other stuff that they could be answering.
So why should we believe him now, he said a lot of the right things last year as well.
I think it’s actions. actions speak way louder than words. so as much as I may have intended to do some of those things last year and really, truly wanted to, I don’t feel like I was in a position personally and now I think I’m doing the right things and taking the right steps necessary for me to put myself in the best position possible to be exactly what this organization drafted me to be. I don’t want to give up on that fact at all. I’m not giving up on the fact that they brought me in here as a first-round pick and want to see something out of me. that’s not lost on me, and hopefully not on the people in this locker room, either.
So what do you think Browns fans? Are you convinced?

Might not make him a good QB, but it will make him better.

as far as johnny he also said all the right things last year

@Manziel – You keep repeating over and over to put the past behind you. I hope in rehab, they reflected exactly what you have become. You have a lot to prove – not as a player, but as a person. Manziel has a long way before coming a Pro.
I really hope that Manziel doesn’t see a down this year. Instead, I hope he takes a different path and becomes someone to the community while taking things serious in practice. He is paid millions of dollars – I am not saying give any money back, but you have plenty of sober minutes you can now integrate yourself with a community. Do something right in your life. For once, don’t be Johnny Manziel – be a person. Then you will succeed on the football field. Maybe give Josh Cribbs a call – the classiest Brown of all time.

Thanks for the brew. This really is a serious matter for this guy. I really hope he takes this chance and does what I have said above. I truly hope Johnny Manziel or one of his teammates finds your site and reads this.

I don’t think laziness is the right word. It’s close, but I think a better fit is apathetic. He didn’t care, he thought the football would take care of itself like it always had in the past. The difference between apathy and laziness is that if he decides that football is important to him then he will work hard if he’s apathetic, but not if he’s lazy.
