I will be on a plane and not get to see any of the game until the end of Q4. Figured I’d put the thread up so others can give the news post game

Free DirecTV on the flight. Flipped from Jets game and Gameday live which showed highlights and commentary from Andrew Hawkins and another guy.

    Game balls:

Mayfield- no picks again. Game winning drive

    Nick Chubb 5.8 YPC

Jarvis Landry – 9 of 10 targets caught and great TD catch

    Goats:

Freddie Kitchens – red zone designs are sheer garbage. At one point on a replay of a BENGALS stupid 4th down play all Hawk said “Did Freddie Kitchens make that call?”

Odel Beckham – 5 of 12 targets caught. Dropped a TD. Yes, I saw the play. Yes, the DB got his hand in it. So why a goat? Because the hype of Beckham and the steep price paid demands he makes that catch.

Wilkes – yes, they held the awful and terrible Bills to 16 points. However, they went without a QB spy in the red zone on the white Lamar Jackson’s TD run. Dude can’t hit a brick wall with the ball. No reason to allow that to happen

Chubb gets both a Gameball and a Goat.

His vision and patience are an amazing asset, he constantly finds holes in the defense and angles of attack.

He was terrible in the red zone today, for this exact reason. When the field is shorter, he has to just plow ahead. Hesitation results in losses. Hit the line, stay low, keep your legs pumping.

I want to give a goat to the refs, but I may have to rescind it if my understanding of the rule is wrong.

Can anybody explain what happened on the Josh Allen fumble that they recovered for a first down? They had Blandino on, but I couldn’t hear the audio at the time. My understanding is when a player fumbles, it goes back to the spot where he lost it if his team recovers, and only the player that fumbled it can advance the ball. That would have put them well short of the first down, but they gave the bills the ball where it was recovered. Is that a huge f up from the refs, or is my understanding wrong?

I think that’s only if the player recovers his own fumble.

For the rule you are referring to to apply it has to be under 2 minutes in the half/game or 4th down

A player can advance the ball if he recovers his own fumble, but a different player cannot.

Really? That’s just dumb. The NFL needs to simplify the rule book a lot, and not changing the rules on different downs and at the end of halves would be a great place to start. I hate that the NFL considers those 4 minutes more important than the other 56 minutes.

You are correct, and I was screaming this.

It came with under 2 minutes left in the half.

I don’t understand why they didn’t put Hunt in there as a full back. Kept putting tight ends and they weren’t opening any holes.

To blame Chubb for not scoring inside the 5 is asinine. There was no back push. Plays were all predictable.

Higgins deserves a game ball. Fuck Calloway.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

I saw 2 of the plays, someone will have to confirm the other 3. I read that none of those runs were straight up the gut. They were all “fancy” runs. The 2 I saw were a pitch out and cut back and as @dude states there were no holes at all and our line got destroyed

I was only listening at the time, but they said one was up the gut. It got half a yard, I think on First and goal from the one after the DPI. I was screaming for them to keep going up the gut, but they pitched it out and had like a 2 yard loss.

Yea they felt somewhat delayed. Believe out of the 9 plays they ran plus the additional 3 from the other series which ended up in a false start and then a field goal, they pound 2 in the 2/4 hole. Also ran 2 that were behind the tackle on delayed hand offs where they pulled the guard.

I didn’t like the fact that basically on all the pass plays there were only 2 targets. Lucky we didn’t get a hold on one of them.

    @soup @dawg e. dawg hope that helps.

Also, they ran a shuttle pass on the goal line. Forgot about that disaster.

Yes it does. BTW – we won the game due to the false start – so that guy gets a game ball too (Gameday live was talking about it as it happened). down 7-6 you take the lead at home, not go for it there. So glad that guy false started their way out of that sure disaster.

Very true. The one time Freddie kitchens undisciplined team benefitted from a penalty

    Gameballs:
Landry – This guy is the heart and soul of our offense. He’s the most passionate player on the team and it shows in every single play. Watch him run blocking. He is taking run blocking to a new level for WR’s. He cares as much about sealing the edge as he does making a catch.
Chubb – Another quiet 100 yard game. It would have been a 200 yard game if not for Poyer. All he does is get 5+ yards per carry and keep his mouth shut.
Hunt – This guy has completely changed our offense. I believe that the plan all year was to run these 2 back sets with Chubb and DOOOOOOOK up to the trade deadline, then Chubb and Hunt afterwards. Duke fucked it up. It’s clear that Hunt is the missing key. He was lead blocking like a champ and it can’t be overstated how much versatility he brings. With him on the field he can split wide and run actual WR routes, or sit in the pistol and cause the LB’s to all stay home destroying zone coverage. I think Freddy’s been playing with one hand behind his back all season.
Demarious Randall – The most passionate player on the defense.
Ward – Was covering guys so close it was like he was wearing their pants. He just needs to work on getting his head around when the WR does and he’ll start getting picks all day.
Hollywood Higgins – I don’t know why he’s not getting playing time, but that shit needs to end immediately.

    Goats:
Kitchens – Some of the worst goal line playcalling I’ve ever seen. If we’re gonna run it, keep OBJ and Landry split wide to at least keep the defense honest. Our Line isn’t good enough to win with extra o-linemen vs their extra d-linemen.
    O-line – See above.
