Multiple players allegedly told the Cardinals… THE CARDINALS…. to ‘come get them’. In other words they want to be anywhere but Cleveland. Why? Jarvis and OBJ clearly want to be somewhere with an effective passing attack. In 14 games we’ve proven we have anything but that, even against the worst pass defense in the league. Before garbage time Mayfield only had about 130 yards passing against the Cards. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Look at those stats for Baker, comparing last year to this year. He’s worse in every single measurable. Completions, down almost 4%. TD’s, down 10 from last year. Yards, down 400 from last year (with 1 more game this season). INT’s, up 3. Yards per attemp, down .6. Yards per game, down almost 30. Rating, down almost 25 points. Sacks, up 9. Game winning drives, from 4 last season to only 1 this year. EVERYTHING IS WORSE.
Baker is the biggest problem this team has right now and it has to be fixed this offseason. Maybe the problem is 100% on Baker, or maybe the coaching staff bears all the responsibility. We can debate that if you want, but the main reason we’re losing is Baker Mayfield.
December 16, 2019 at 5:01 pm #17529soupParticipantWell, let’s see.
Zampese, the architecht of Mayfield, was fired.
Step in Lindley – 1 year of graduate student, 1 year of RB coach and first year QB coach.
Playbook: 100% changed. He got rid of Haley’s playbook and created a level of stupidity not seen since Maurice Carthon. TE blocking blind sides 1 on 1? All vertical routes? No LT, no RT and he set up routes that take too long to develop.
Here’s simple quotes from announcers:
Tiki BArber: “The routes take too long to develop.” While you may not like him as an announcer, he was a great football player and knows the game.
No name announcer: “Kliff Kingsbury told me he knows exactly what the Browns will do so they’ll give a look pre-snap, then change it post.”
Multiple announcers: “They should be giving the ball to Chubb.”
Baker didn’t get worse, his coaching staff got worse and the playbook is pure trash. Gone are the fast reads and quick slants.
Kitchens literally went away from everything that made Baker good last year and went polar opposite.
Should’ve NEVER fired Zampese.
Should’ve kept Haleys playbook and built on it.
This is all on coaching.

I am hoping that “IF/WHEN” a new staff is hired, that might change some of that.

You spend so much of your time around here acting like Brad Pitt from 12 Monkeys I completely forget that every once in a while you can make solid, sensible, observations.

One.Very much inclined to agree.
OBJ said pretty emphatically that he’s staying, and committed to fixing things next year.
Honestly they should consider just shutting him down now to assess surgery and start rehabbing.
I still assume Randall leaves as soon as he can, and Hunt shops for a lead back job.

I’m shocked I tell you. Shocked.

Silver’s terrible. Not only is he a Hue apologist, he’s a Jeff Fisher apologist.
A few of years ago, when Fisher was still coaching the Rams, Eric Dickerson criticized the Rams’ offense on a radio show he hosted with an LA sportswriter named Vinny Bonsingore. Vinny’s top-flight, really good. Did a great job covering the Rams and Raiders relocations. Anyway, Fisher allegedly banned ED from the Rams sidelines for games and didn’t want him around the team, etc…
Vinny was on Twitter just posting about it, not ripping Fisher or anything. A lot of people were asking questions, and Vinny was answering them.
Silver jumps onto Vinny’s timeline and starts acting like a complete dick, insulting Vinny, basically calling him a fake journalist, stuff like that. All because Vinny was bascially explaining Dickerson’s side of the story.
Not Browns related, but shows what a joke Silver is.

One.Pay close close attention. No they aren’t. They are all true. Now look at the context:
Pre game, hyped up player yelling “come get me!”
It’s a “battle cry” to hype themselves up and challenge the opposing team to stop them.
What it doesn’t mean is “I want to play for you.” Especially the shot show Cardinals.
