Per Schefter. So in 2 years finally the worthless Depodesta can be fired.

Oh joy. A guy with 1 year as OC that Kubiak did everything on. Let me guess, he’ll also call his own plays.

Saleh was going to bring 2 key SF guys with him. Now we get Depodesta dream. Maybe Stefanski has a good curve ball.

Cleveland Clowns will finish in 4th

Maybe he’ll bring Kubiak as OC? Would be the only silver lining, here.

If Kubiak is still under contract in Minnesota they can’t because he’s assistant HC. That would give me hope. Look for Kubiak to go to OC in Minnesota with the assistant HC title still there.

Yay for baseball guys picking coaches!

Sounds like McDaniels wanted more change in the organization than the Haslam’s were willing to undertake. He wasn’t my first choice, but my biggest criteria was prior experience, so he was my top choice of what was left.

I can put aside anything and everything about the offense he ran in Minnesota. I just don’t see how Stefanski is equipped to unfuck the shitshow we were left with after last year, especially with a new GM trying to make their mark on this roster. We needed a steady, experienced hand.

That means Mcdaniels wanted to fire Depodesta

So they apparently made their choice by who was available first. Just when you think this organization can’t be anymore dysfunctional:

    Per MKC:

The #Browns HC search came down to Kevin Stefanski and #49ers Robert Saleh, source tells me. Decision not finalized before their head-to-head matchup yesterday.

Early favorite for GM is bringing back Andrew Berry. Only the Haslams would look to rebuild a front office which went 1-31.

Remember when he bought the team and I said his goal was to move to England? Not looking so silly now am I?

Wade Phillips and Bill Callahan’s names have come up as potential coordinators, which would make me feel a lot better.

Words are hard, huh? It doesn’t say they made their choice based on who won, it just says they were still deciding when the game was being played.

If they were deciding based on who won they would surely pick the winner, right?

The advanced statistics our analytics guys have access to showed that, despite what the “football” guys seem to think, the Vikings actually won.

Positives: Stefanski favors the run game, play action, and short/medium passes. That definitely suits our roster, especially if we can’t fix our offensive line all in one year

You’re assuming he brings the same philosophy Kubiak has (the architect behind this year). That’s a tall order. My head will explode when he states he’ll be calling his own plays.

Short version of the MKC article:

Wilks was going to be Stefanskis DC last year with us.

Browns love Salehs leadership (you know, the big go part of being a head coach) but loved how Keenum and Cousins performed under him as QB coach. You know, because in 2018 cousins completed 454 passes in 606 attempts (as a point of reference that’s 70 more passes than Baker this year).

Their offense was heavy pass until Kubiak came into the fold in 2019.

Playoffs on the line in 2018 33 passes to 14 handoffs.

Don’t trust that he’s actually run heavy.

This was a terrible hire of a glorified QB coach soon to be fired.

I wanted Saleh. But I’m okay with Stefanski. Out of all the remaining candidates after McCarthy, he ended up being my second choice.

Read a tweet from Charles Robinson that said that he expects Stefanski to try and bring over at least one of the Kubiaks to Cleveland.

Ice, per MKC, Mike Priefer is staying, and that’s great news.

I don’t know how Stefanski called the last two games of the 2018 season. Zimmer canned DeFillipo and turned to Stefanski. We don’t have a large sample size to see how he calls games without Kubiak, but he did do some pretty good things this past year.

What I’d love to see with this Hire is the installation of a ZBS/WCO which IMO given the personel is the best fit of any O I can think of.

Think back to the days of OC Shanahan, QB Hoyer and RB Crowell and that scheme and aplly the talent on hand on this roster.

OBJ and Juice runnin Horizontal routes makes so much more since as they will present bigger windows for Baker to through into. Let Njoku run the vertical stuff as he has the height advantage for it.

Their offense was heavy pass until Kubiak came into the fold in 2019.

That’s one way to look at it. Another way: ‘Their offense was heavy pass until Cook got healthy.’

Except it’s not true. Kubiak fingerprints are all over their offense. I hope I’m wrong, but last I checked football plays stuff brainiacs in lockers. We need an alpha male to be HC. Not a glorified QB coach

I linked an article from December about Kubiak above. But I guess you don’t believe Zampese was the architect of Mayfields rookie year either.

Here’s a different one from November for you:

    http://m.startribune.com/gary-kubiak-s-offense-gives-life-to-old-school-fullbacks/564960512/

Unless Kubiak comes with him I’m not holding any high hopes for Freddie Shurmur Stefanski as the next head coach

    And another blurb from today:

“Should the Vikings hire from within, assistant head coach Gary Kubiak could replace Stefanski. The franchise brought Kubiak in last offseason to guide the offense with Stefanski while installing core principles from the system he ran over 21 seasons as a head coach or offensive coordinator. “

No way Minnesota lets Gary walk. If Gary Kubiak becomes our OC I may actually smile about this. Only way this could be possible is if his Minnesota deal was 1 year

I could be mistaken but I am pretty sure I read it was a one year deal and thats why both Kubiaks could be coming to Cleveland……

I read an article–sorry, can’t remember who wrote it or I’d post a link–that said that the Kubiaks are Stefanski are really close and had even discussed coming to Cleveland together last year if Stefanski had gotten the job.

I’d love to see it happen.

I decided to go back and look at everybody’s reaction when we hired Stefanski. This is just too entertaining not to bump. Great stuff here.

Also, after yesterday, it’s seems safe to say the guy so many wanted, Saleh, is more a product of having elite talent than being an elite coach.
