Not a big fan of this move. With anni experienced HC who comes from the offensive side, I’d prefer to see an experienced DC.

The moment a baseball guy was given 100% control this whole fake process was doomed to fail miserably. I’ve no issue with Wilks being let go, we can suck just as bad without him as we did with him. Maybe Woods learned a lot and we can average letting up 10 PPG because when Stefanski is head coach and OC with his first time ever creating an offense we will score at most 16 PPG

This is a joke, right? If McDaniels had been hired, you’d have said it was a fake process and they just wanted McDaniels. Same for McCarthy. Now with Stefanksi, you say it’s a fake process??
So, it’s a fake process unless they hire the guy you want. That about sum it up?
January 20, 2020 at 2:51 pm #18053soupParticipantWho did Depodesta want last year to be coach? Stefanski. (After 3 whole games as an interim OC)
Why wasn’t Mcdaniels hired? He wanted wholesale front office changes (aka Depodesta fired)
You actually think this was a real process?
Stefanski has zero qualifications. Stefanski is who baseball guy wanted last year. If Mcdaniels we’re here baseball guy wouldn’t be here. That’s why Mcdaniels isn’t here.

You can’t say stupid shit like this. This is how you have no credibility.
Yes he does. He was a coordinator in the NFL, that alone is a qualification, and a big one since that’s where almost all HC come from. So, spare us.
You can say the hire sucks. You can say he sucks. You can say the front office sucks. You can crtiticize the shit out of the move, but saying dumb shit ruins any objectivity you have on the subject.
Hell man, he’s literally TWICE as qualified as Kitchens was lol.

January 20, 2020 at 4:13 pm #18057IceKeymaster14 years in the NFL with the same team, coaching almost every offensive position group, working his way up to OC and calling plays for over 1 season…. that’s zero qualifications in Soup’s book.
Soup you’re no longer qualified to comment.
January 20, 2020 at 4:15 pm #18058Dawg E. DawgParticipantYou are literally making up out of thin air that McDaniels wanted DePodesta fired. That’s complete bull shit. And if McDaniels went into an interview and said that he wanted the guy in charge of leading the HC search fired, than he has no business being a HC because he is a moron.
They interviewed at least 8 people, took longer than any other team, and you say the process was fake. Dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. Nobody would interview 8 candidates if they new who their guy was. Hell, Jerry Jones didn’t even interview 2.

Yes, they would do that in case Stefanski said no because Haslam is insane.
As for McDaniels. It’s widely reported he wanted wholesale front office changes. Depodesta contract was about to expire. Why would Mcdaniels keep a useless baseball guy around?

Lmao.

I believe with 100% certainty that McDaniels wanted Depodesta fired. Not only do I believe it, I’m nearly certain it’s the main reason he wasn’t hired.
January 20, 2020 at 7:08 pm #18067IceKeymasterI don’t believe that McDaniels wanted Podesta fired, he wanted to be in charge of Podesta. I believe that in McDaniels’ mind he should be elevated above Haslam.

No, Haslam is unsuccessful. YOU are insane.

This is probably closest to the truth. He either wanted to be in charge of the roster, or bring in a puppet so he could be in charge of the roster by proxy. I have no idea what his thoughts were regarding Podesta.
But, as I said before, the Browns made it widely known that Podesta was running the coaching search. I am quite certain, that McDaniels did NOT tell the guy RUNNING THE COACHING SEARCH, THAT “I WANT TO FIRE YOU.”
If he did that, than he’s less qualified to be head coach than I am.

The fact Stefanski wants to be controlled by analytics tells me we have a new staff coming in 2021

I was going to write a dissertation on analytics for your benefit, but I’m finding I lack the motivation to educate you more. I’m very sorry.

Analytics or common sense? (Don’t be dumb and go 5 wide on 3rd and inches).
Or the analytics of changing game plan weekly meaning “let’s pass 50 times because analytics says Cincinnati is weak against the pass.”
