With the Redskins all but publicly announcing that they want to part ways with RG3, you know Cleveland is going to be one of the landing points the media will highlight.
My first reaction to the idea was “no way in hell, he had one great year and then the league caught up”.
But after a little thought, what do we have to lose? At no point in the last two years, regardless of how poorly Griffin was doing, would I pick Manziel or McCown over Griffin. In fact, as bad as RG3 has looked at time, he’s basically Manziel with better legs and a much better arm. While I wouldn’t give him good odds of being a long-term solution, I’d certainly give him better odds than Johnny.
He also only has one year on his current contract, which is why Washington is trying to cut ties. Cap room is not an issue for us, and if we are able to revitalize him in a run-heavy play-action scheme, we can sign him to a long term deal. If he sucks, he’s out the door and we’re no worse off.
Should the Browns sign RG3 if he's released from WAS?
- Yes, do whatever it takes to get him even if that means lots of guarantees and starter money. (0%, 0 Votes)
- Yes, give it a shot with backup money and some guarantees (75%, 3 Votes)
- Kinda. Offer him veteran min, no guarantees, and performanced based escalators (which means he'll sign somewhere else) (0%, 0 Votes)
- Nope. I'd rather sign my own butt with a blowtorch. He's a team killer. (25%, 1 Votes)

I wouldn’t trade a wooden nickel for him and I wouldn’t pay him anything but vet minimum with no guarantees. In other words, I wouldn’t offer him enough to lure him here. The Bills or Jets would pay more.

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

Conversely, both Griffin and Manziel have some similar skill sets which would make the OC’s job easier than having a mobile QB and a strictly pocket passer.
September 2, 2015 at 9:49 am #1829IceKeymasterI’m against it at this point. His ego is as big as Manziel’s last year and Washington players are lining up to say they’re thrilled he’s not the starter. Some how he’s become a locker room disaster. No thanks.
