ParticipantAt least he’s come up as a scout and through player evaluation. Sashi was a lawyer that had no business ever being a GM.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantExactly. It’s night and day between the two. They’ve decided the statistical side of talent evaluation is important, and they found a man who has both a strong background in traditional scouting as well as a respect for the analytics.
Probably a best case scenario, really. At least he should have freedom to do his job without looking over his shoulder.

soupParticipantYay, the 1-31 front office is in tact! What could possibly go wrong?

IceKeymasterPaton was the guy I wanted the whole time. Unlike McDaniels, he gracefully declined the position and ‘leaked’ that he liked what was going on here, just wanted to stay with what he knew in Minnesota.
Berry is a consolation prize. He is competent and has the experience for the title but he better create a great scouting department and LISTEN TO THEM. And also don’t let Haslam sit in on the draft room.

GABrownsFanParticipantI liked Paton as well. I’m also a fan of Berry’s, from what I’ve read about him. I would have been happy with either of them.
Ice, Haslam in the draft room is fine. Just muzzle him and stuff him into a closet.

I’d rather have him watch the draft room via closed circuit feed from the North Pole. There’s no homeless men in the North Pole right?

GABrownsFanParticipant“I’d rather have him watch the draft room via closed circuit feed from the North Pole. There’s no homeless men in the North Pole right?”
No, but the danger of that is Haslam taking drafting advice from polar bears.

IceKeymasterAnalytics also show that penguins live in the South Pole.

MDP Sack AttackParticipantIn the North Pole he’d just try to bust up elf labor unions and falsify rebates for reindeer feed. That would probably distract him for years.

Then his trip would be working as intended.

GABrownsFanParticipantShould we start a gofundme page to show Haslam how serious we are about this? I’m sure he can afford the plane ticket, but we can raise a few bucks as a sign of good faith.

ShooterModeratorhe better create a great scouting department and LISTEN TO THEM.
Well unless Billy Beancounter has one of those Stephen Hawking voice boxes in his laptop he won’t be able to talk to the scouting department.
Because that IS the scouting department.
Why use your eyes when you can use the data?

I’m not kidding, exaggerating, overstating, or being sarcastic:
That was the funniest goddamn thing you have ever said in 20 years.

ParticipantSoup, I have a few questions for you.
Do you like Center JC Tretter? Did you like Kevin Zeitler before Dorsey screwed up and traded him for Oliver Vernon? Did you like the Browns resigning Joel Bitonio to a long term extension?
Just curious.

soupParticipantYes on all 3. Tretter isn’t amazing but he’s good

IceKeymasterTretter is top 5 in the AFC for sure.
February 21, 2020 at 5:00 pm #18385BrownsFan4Life
ParticipantOne of the reasons I mentioned them was because all were signed to extensions the first time Berry was here.
I will say that I don’t know how much input he had on those teams whether good or bad.
But if he is going to get blamed for the bad while he was here, he should get credit for the good while he was here.Maybe I have on rose colored glasses but I am happy with the front office and coaching staff. I can’t say the same for the Owner though.

soupParticipantThe problem isn’t the good, it’s the incredibly inept like the Corey Coleman’s of the world and the 1-31.
We’ll know in a couple months. That first go round was all about the SPARQ score on a spreadsheet and I don’t see that changing

ParticipantYou have your opinion and as usual I disagree with it.
We can talk all day about it but in the end, only time will tell.

the dudeParticipantHaslem has drafted excellent qbs like manziel and Kizer.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
