I read that as well. As far as we know he’s not in the drug program so it shouldn’t trigger a suspension, but it might cause us to not give him a 2nd round tender.

We’d better not be that shy about it. Given his proven level of consistent production and willingness to play hard for a shitty Cleveland squad with a dead-man-walking coach, it’s a no brainer to give him the sub-$5 million 1st round tender. That’s less than Duke Johnson signed for last year. It’s a steal, and Hunt is the perfect fit for a West Coast offense and the ideal compliment to Chubb.

I don’t know if it’s in the CBA or something, but the NFL legitimately doesn’t care until you fail an NFL drug test.

Living here, from what I heard, the cop multiple times said to Bell “that’s her weed right?” To give him an out and he couldn’t figure it out

Hunt is probably going to be tested now and suspended.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
January 30, 2020 at 11:08 am #18179Dawg E. DawgParticipantLooked it up, and Bell got 4, ultimately reduced to 2 games, and Blount got 1 game. Bell was arrested for DUI (according to wiki, at least), and both failed drug tests, I think.
So, I think, ultimately it will come down to drug tests. I don’t think they would bring the personal conduct policy in this for possession of weed, since it’s legal to possess it in some states where the NFL operates. I think that would open up a can of worms the NFL would rather avoid.
For the drug test, since Hunt, as far as I know, is not in the program, I don’t know that they can drug test him related to a specific incident. Maybe the can? But I think it’s supposed to be random. Which, would mean they can’t just select him at will because of this. Though, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was “randomly” selected this week.
I could be wrong, somebody with better knowledge of the cba or more inclination to look it up can correct me, but I think, barring a “random” test, Hunt can’t be tested until the window opens in April. Of course, he’s a complete moron, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he failed a test then anyway.
January 30, 2020 at 11:49 am #18183ShooterModeratorI’m pretty sure that according to the CBA since he’s not in the drug program, and it’s the offseason, he can’t be tested right now anyway.
Someone should double check me on that though I’m not sure.

January 31, 2020 at 3:09 pm #18198BrownsFan4LifeParticipantFormer Philadelphia Eagles player, Chris Long, referred to the existing NFL policy on marijuana as ‘dumb’ when he spoke to Sports Illustrated in August 2019. At present, drug tests are random in the league.
This means players have no clue when a tester is coming (although there is a specific window which we explain later.) The NFL posts a note with the official letterhead of the league, in the locker stall of a player, and they submit a urine sample for testing.
The existing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) states that the first positive cannabis test result means a punishment of enrolling in a substance abuse program. However, you don’t receive a ban.
A second positive test nets you a two-game fine. If you test positive for a third time, you get a four-game fine. A fourth positive test means a four-game ban, and a fifth positive result means a 10-game ban. Subsequent positive test results might mean expulsion from the league.
When the NFL and NFLPA negotiated the CBA in 2011, they agreed that the threshold required to fail a drug screening was 15 nanograms of THC per ml. In 2014, the ‘failure’ limit was raised to 35ng/ml. For the record, the threshold in Major League Baseball is 50ng/ml, and the World Anti-Doping Agency has a 150ng/ml limit.
…
Drug testing season starts on 4/20 (im not kidding) and goes until the superbowl. - AuthorPosts
