I think Mike LaFleur was our choice at OC.

He’s currently the ‘passing game coordinator’ with the 49ers, but the title is deceptive. He’s part of a 3-headed offensive staff featuring Shanahan and McDaniel that all work together to create the scheme. He would have been a perfect fit for our staff.

The reason I think he was the choice was that he came to interview for an ‘unknown position’ but not HC before we hired Stefanski. Now right after we announced the hiring of Alex Van Pelt at OC (to which all of us collectively said WTF), the 49ers are announcing a nice lucrative contract extension for LaFleur. He’s definitely one of the hottest OC candidates, also trying to get recruited by his brother in GB. He’s the one I wanted here. I think we made him an offer and he refused it, used it to negotiate more money from SF while we were stuck without a dance partner.

And I’m sure Freddie Jrs plan was to call his own plays the moment he was hired so no real candidate will accept the job

I don’t mind the HC calling plays but he had better have an assistant HC who can handle other responsibilities like clock management etc.

There is still no decision on if Kevin is going to call his own plays or not.

Just make it down that Soup doesn’t like ANYONE the Browns have hired whether its a coach or front office. So we can be clear at the end of the year.

Also, Stefanski is far from Freddie Jr. His offense actually excelled and his QB had his best career season.

If you’re going to refuse to give credit for the offense to the offensive coordinator, why stop at Kubiak? I think you mean Mike Shanahan’s offense excelled.

I linked multiple articles throughout this site from Minnesota that Kubiak was the architect behind the offense. Kubiak designed it. That’s why I don’t give him credit for it, because he didn’t do it. It was his first year ever dealing with that scheme as well. We have no idea what he’ll run here. I’m guessing like all our previous coaches it’ll include constant passing and a lot of losses resulting in a new regime next year

You looked for articles giving Gary Kubiak credit and you found them.

It’s called Confirmation Bias. Look it up.

I’m still convinced that Van Pelt is actually Kitchens with a mediocre disguise.
