April 8, 2020 at 9:16 am #18723IceKeymasterI saw that and gave it some thought. I think it makes sense, as long as they add 3 rookie spots the roster or practice squad. Any players that couldn’t perform at the combine and were banking on private workouts and pro days have been really hurt by this, and kids who weren’t invited to the combine at all have been basically shut out of the NFL process. Because the level of information and access to those players is so restricted it makes sense to give NFL teams a little bit of slack so they can give those kids a chance.

Drafting a player in the 8th, 9th, 10, or really even the 7th round doesn’t help them. They get paid the same as an undrafted FA, and are no more guaranteed to make the team.
Conversely, there are also prospects that are helped by this. Mathematically, the draft is zero sum, so if prospects are hurt by it, the same number of prospects are helped.
Just my two cents. I don’t usually pay attention past the beginning of round 4, so 3 extra rounds would just be 3 more rounds for me to ignore.

Hue Jackson is a loser.
