BILL WUNKLE’S 2020 NFL MOCK DRAFT: VERSION 2.0

Happy Draft Week from “The Padded Cell”, everyone! It’s Monday April 20th and I can hardly wait for this Thursday night to get here. Time is of the essence, so let’s get go over the rules so that we can on with the show.

    * This mock will consist of three rounds. Sorry to disappoint those of you who want me to go the full seven, but you guys really need to get a life. I will be including Browns picks for the remaining rounds, as well as some rookie free agent possibilities. Since we’re going three rounds, I’ll limit my comments to Browns picks.

    * As much as it’ll disappoint some of you, there will be no trades in this mock. If I choose to write up a “final” mock for Thursday, I’ll throw some in then.

*This mock will be a combination of the player I think said team will take and which player said team should take. Some picks will simply be a BPA or “best player available” pick regardless of position. Not every team drafts from a need only basis. Sometimes the BPA fills an area of immediate need and sometimes it doesn’t.

And now, on with the show . . .

    ROUND ONE

    1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow – QB – LSU

    2. Washington Redskins: Chase Young – DE – Ohio State

    3. Detroit Lions: Jeff Okudah – CB – Ohio State

    4. New York Giants: Jedrick Wills – OT – Alabama

    5. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa – QB- Alabama

    6. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert – QB – Oregon

    7. Carolina Panthers: Isaiah Simmons – ATH – Clemson

    8. Arizona Cardinals: Tristan Wirfs – OT – Iowa

    9. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown – DT – Auburn

    10. Cleveland Browns: Andrew Thomas – OT – Georgia

Comments: The Browns greatest need is at offensive left tackle (thank you Captain Obvious for that riveting commentary). Of the two remaining from the top four at the position, Thomas is more of a plug in and play tackle. While Mekhi Becton’s upside potential is through the roof, he’s extremely raw and will need time to develop. I’m not convinced that Cleveland wants to draft such a raw player tenth overall. If this were later in the draft, they may be more inclined to do so. It’s also been speculated that the Browns may be willing to trade down if the price is right, with the Denver Broncos being a possible partner.

    11. New York Jets: Jerry Jeudy – WR – Alabama

    12. Las Vegas Raiders: Henry Ruggs III – WR – Alabama

    13. San Francisco 49ers: CeeDee Lamb – WR – Oklahoma

    14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mekhi Becton – OT – Louisville

    15. Denver Broncos: CJ Henderson – CB – Florida

    16. Atlanta Falcons: Javon Kinlaw – DT – South Carolina

    17. Dallas Cowboys: K’Lavon Chaisson – DE – LSU

    18. Miami Dolphins: Josh Jones – OT – Houston

    19. Las Vegas Raiders: Kristian Fulton – CB – LSU

    20. Jacksonville Jaguars: Xavier McKinney – S – Alabama

    21. Philadelphia Eagles: Tee Higgins – WR – Clemson

    22. Minnesota Vikings: Trevon Diggs – CB – Alabama

    23. New England Patriots: Jordan Love – QB – Utah State

    24. New Orleans Saints: Kenneth Murray – LB – Oklahoma

    25. Minnesota Vikings – Justin Jefferson – WR – LSU

    26. Miami Dolphins: Grant Delpit – S – LSU

    27. Seattle Seahawks: AJ Epenesa – DE – Iowa

    28. Baltimore Ravens: Patrick Queen – LB – LSU

    29. Tennessee Titans: Yetur Gross-Matos – DE – Penn State

    30. Green Bay Packers: Denzel Mims – WR – Baylor

    31. San Francisco 49ers: AJ Terrell – CB – Clemson

    32. Kansas City Chiefs: Jeff Gladney – CB – TCU

    ROUND TWO

    33. Cincinnati Bengals: Cesar Ruiz – OC – TSUN

    34. Indianapolis Colts: Brandon Aiyuk – WR – Arizona State

    35. Detroit Lions: Zack Baun – LB – Wisconsin

    36. New York Giants: Jalen Reagor – WR – TCU

    37. Los Angeles Chargers: Austin Jackson – OT – USC

    38. Carolina Panthers: Neville Gallimore – DT – Oklahoma

    39. Miami Dolphins: D’Andre Swift – RB – Georgia

    40. Houston Texans: Isaiah Wilson – OT – Georgia

    41. Cleveland Browns: Julian Okwara – DE – Notre Dame

Comments: I want to give the Browns a linebacker here, but it would be a reach pick. That’s not the kind of scenario I think the Browns brass is looking for. With many people wanting a safety here, I have them taking a player that can help out as a rotational pass rusher and add quality depth. Could they take a safety here? Sure, and it certainly wouldn’t be the end of Western civilization as we know it.

    42. Jacksonville Jaguars: Noah Igbinoghene – CB – Auburn

    43. Chicago Bears: Jaylon Johnson – CB – Utah

    44. Indianapolis Colts: Marlon Davidson – DT – Auburn

    45. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Jonathan Taylor – RB – Wisconsin

    46. Denver Broncos: Ezra Cleveland – OT – Boise State

    47. Atlanta Falcons: Terrell Lewis – DE – Alabama

    48. New York Jets: Lucas Niang – OT – TCU

    49. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ross Blacklock – DT – TCU

    50. Chicago Bears: Lloyd Cushenberry III – OC – LSU

    51. Dallas Cowboys: Damon Arnette – CB – Ohio State

    52. Los Angeles Rams: Curtis Weaver – DE – Boise State

    53. Philadelphia Eagles: Bryce Hall – CB – Virginia

    54. Buffalo Bills: Josh Uche – DE – TSUN

    55. Baltimore Ravens: Laviska Shenault Jr. – WR – Colorado

    56. Miami Dolphins: Jonah Jackson – OG – Ohio State

    57. Los Angeles Rams: Jordyn Brooks – LB – Texas Tech

    58. Minnesota Vikings: Justin Madubuike – DT – Texas A&M

    59. Seattle Seahawks: KJ Hamler – WR – Penn State

    60. Baltimore Ravens: Antoine Winfield Jr. – S – Minnesota

    61. Tennessee Titans: Raekwon Davis – DT – Alabama

    62. Green Bay Packers: Cole Kmet – TE – Notre Dame

    63. Kansas City Chiefs: JK Dobbins – RB – Ohio State

    64. Seattle Seahawks: Prince Tega Wanogho – OT – Auburn

    ROUND THREE

    65. Cincinnati Bengals: Jonathan Greenard – DE – Florida

    66. Washington Redskins: Cameron Dantzler – CB – Mississippi State

    67. Detroit Lions: Davon Hamilton – DT – Ohio State

    68. New York Jets: Matt Hennessy – OC – Temple

    69. Carolina Panthers: Tony Pride Jr. – CB – Notre Dame

    70. Miami Dolphins: Donovan Peoples-Jones – WR – TSUN

    71. Los Angeles Chargers: Darnay Holmes – CB – UCLA

    72. Arizona Cardinals: Willie Gay Jr. – LB – Mississippi State

    73. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jacob Eason – WB – Washington

    74. Cleveland Browns: Jeremy Chinn – S – Southern Illinois

Comments: To those of you who want the Browns to draft a safety, I think that this is the point where they address the need. Chinn may have played at the FCS level, but this kid can play with the big boys. Right here is a situation where the BPA actually fills a real need.

    75. Indianapolis Colts: Adam Trautman – TE – Dayton

    76. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Michael Pittman Jr. – WR – USC

    77. Denver Broncos: Chase Claypool – WR – Notre Dame

    78. Atlanta Falcons: Malik Harrison – LB – Ohio State

    79. New Yotk Jets: Darrell Taylor – DE – Tennessee

    80. Las Vegas Raiders: Ashtyn Davis – S – California

    81. Las Vegas Raiders: Jordan Elliott – DT – Missouri

    82. Dallas Cowboys: Kyle Dugger – S – Lenoir Rhyne

    83. Denver Broncos: Robert Hunt – OG – Louisiana

    84. Los Angeles Rams: Cam Akers – RB – Florida State

    85. Detroit Lions: Terrell Burgess – S – Utah

    86. Buffalo Bills: Clyde Edwards-Helaire – RB – LSU

    87. New England Patriots: Brycen Hopkins – TE – Purdue

    88. New Orleans Saints: Bryan Edwards – WR – South Carolina

    89. Minnesota Vikings: Jabari Zuniga – DE – Florida

    90. Houston Texans: Rashard Lawrence – DT – LSU

    91. Las Vegas Raiders: Damien Lewis – OG – LSU

    92. Baltimore Ravens: Netane Muti – OG – Fresno State

    93. Tennessee Titans: Matthew Peart – OT – Connecticut

    94. Green Bay Packers: Amik Robertson – CB – Louisiana Tech

    95. Denver Broncos: Troy Dye – LB – Oregon

    96. Kansas City Chiefs: Saahdik Charles – OG – LSU

    97. Cleveland Browns: Akeem Davis-Gaither – LB – Appalachian State

Comments: The Browns are able to fill a need with an athletic linebacker to help along the front seven. Some may be indifferent about selecting a kid from Appalachian State. I suggest to those people that they look at the game tape.

    98. New England Patriots: Van Jefferson – WR – Florida

    99. New York Giants: Logan Wilson – WR – Wyoming

    100. New England Patriots: Khalid Kareem – DE – Notre Dame

    101. Seattle Seahawks: Nick Harris – OC – Washington

    102. Pittsburgh Steelers: Jalen Hurtz – QB – Oklahoma

    103. Philadelphia Eagles: K’Von Wallace – S – Clemson

    104. Los Angeles Rams: Tyler Biadasz – OC – Wisconsin

    105. Minnesota Vikings: Ben Bartch – OT – St. Johns (MN)

    106. Baltimore Ravens: Antonio gibson – RB – Memphis.

    OTHER BROWNS PICKS:

    115. Quez Watkins – WR – Southern Mississippi

    187: Lavert Hill – CB – TSUN

244: Binjimen Victor – WR – Ohio State

Shaquille Quarterman – LB – Miami

Carlos Davis – DT – Nebraska

    Ron’Del Carter – DE – James Madison

Sean McKeon – TE – TSUN

Tony Jones Jr. – RB – Notre Dame

I approve of Thomas over Becton.

I’m not convinced Okwara is the best player available in the 2nd there. Yeah he fills a need, but I’d rather go BPA there which might be Ezra Cleveland based on how your draft went. Yeah we just signed Wyatt Teller but so what?? Drafting Cleveland puts BOTH the LT and RG position into heavy competition.
