The Browns drafted Grant Delpit, a safety from LSU. We traded down 3 spots in the second round, from number 41 to number 44 and received a fifth round pick, number 160 overall. The players drafted at 41 (Jonathan Taylor RB WIS), 42 (Laviska Shenault jr WR COL), and 43 (Kole Kmet TE ND) were players I don’t believe we were even slightly interested in so the trade looks really good IMO.

So far so good as far as I am concerned.

Best pure deep FS prospect in the draft IMO.

A home run by GM Berry, plus he recouped a 5th round pick in the process.

I think that my skepticism and criticism of the front office was both warranted and deserved. I don’t in any way back off from any comments that I made about them, and would make them again without hesitation.

However, for me at least (I can’t speak for anyone else), not only can actions trigger a change in view, they can in fact turn the tide from angst to optimism.

Everything that I felt, thought, and saw coming has so far been shockingly wrong. I was fuming over letting Schobert go. I was………….man you guys know me, you see me, you’ve heard me. I lost my mind over some shit.

I have to give it to this team though, I’ve never really been any happier with the way a FO has navigated an offseason as I am right now. I feel that they have handled this with aplomb.

The FA signings were fucking daggers. The draft so far has been just homeruns. They’re killing it. This is so far beyond the pale for this team that seeing what’s happening just doesn’t seem real. I’m not used to this kind of attack.

I said many times that I would never be happier to be so wrong, and sweet mother of god, it feels really, REALLY good to be wrong. Now I’m not jumping full-bore into a crazed “Superbowl!!!!” mindset and rambling on like an idiot that’s drinking the Kool-aid, but damn………it’s almost like these guys have a plan and are nailing it.

I honestly can’t bitch about one thing they’ve done so far. I can’t. I think part of me wants to……but I’m struggling to.

This is roster is turning into an absolute embarrassment of riches. I’m just praying that the coaching staff we have put together can unleash it and for the first time in over 20 years, really go kick some ass.

I don’t know if I’m 100% “all-in” just quite yet……but I don’t know how much longer I can toe the line of being a dissenter.

We’re absolutely stacked on offense. It’s…..good God look at what we have.

Defensively now…….a stud safety to go along with Greedy and Ward……a great linebacker……..

I dunno. I don’t know what to complain about.

Shooter: if vernon and clayborn can’t generate pass rush that would be the only hole on defense

On offense RG is still an open question. I am hoping for forbes personally to take over.

3rd and 4th WR aren’t that strong ether. And with obj and landry coming off surgory that might be real important.

So I am expectijng a WR in the 4th round.

But thats the only holes I see.

I echo @shooter sentiment. Though I’m not sold on them at all still. Not falling for that again. They’ll change me when they make the playoffs.

That said, trading back and having 3 positions picked above them of which we have no need and landing the 2nd biggest position of need on the team is impressive

    Freedom!!!

The only reason I don’t think this is as big of a deal is because of the addition of Austin Hooper and Stefanski’s high rate of running two TD sets. I think what you’re going to see is that Hooper and Njoku are going to essentially be that 3rd and 4th receiver. However I do agree it would be nice from the standpoint of depth we need to add to it still. A dirty chain-moving slot guy would be swell.

Delpit’s production in 2019 was seriously hampered by a high ankle sprain. His 2018 tape is rock solid. This kid can play center field, as well as drop down into the box or play nickel or dime. I like the pick. I like it a lot!

At the time I’m making this post, the Browns have also added a DT and a LB. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them add a WR in one of the remaining rounds, especially when you consider how incredibly deep this class is. One of my favorite WRs in this class that’s still on the board is Southern Mississippi’s Quez Watkins, who ran a sub 4.40 at the combine. I don’t know if the kid can block, but he can flat out make big plays! Liberty’s Antonio Gandy-Golden and Ohio State’s KJ Hill are still on the board; and with the Browns having the 9th pick today, one of them could be a real possibility. Neither of these two are burners, but they have a track record of production.

For those of you who might want the Browns to add yet another linebacker in round four, Oregon’s Troy Dye and Appalachian State’s Akeem David-Gaither are also available. What’s up with all these hyphenated names?

Speaking of names, my favorite name in the whole 2020 draft is Missouri TE Albert Okwuegbunam for no other reason than hearing the members of the media struggle with pronouncing Okwuegbunam (o-KWEG-boo-nahm) much like so many struggle with David Njoku (nuh-JO-koo, not en-JO-koo). One final thing about Okwuegbunam . . . The kid can catch the football and score. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

normally I’m not all that into day 3 of the draft but this year I can’t wait for it to start, this gm and HC seem to be of one mindset and one goal finding players that fit the coaches system both offense and defense and that’s how teams like the Steelers and Ravens do it.
