My thoughts . . .
010 – Jedrick Wills: He was my top OT in this draft because he’s the most technically sound, particularly at pass blocking. His footwork and hand usage are impeccable, plus he’s very athletic and well suited for the Browns wide zone run blocking scheme. Not only did Joe Thomas share this view, but also youtube draft guru Voch Lombardi and ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.

044 – Grant Delpit: Once day one was over, is was clear that Delpit was not only the best safety on the board, but the BPA regardless of position by the time the Browns were on the clock.

088 – Jordan Elliott: I like his first step. He reminds me a lot of Larry Ogunjobi. He’s definitely a bit of a project, but he has some tools to work with.

097 – Jacob Phillips: I was pi$$ed because Malik Harrison was still on the board. Later on, I settled down and thought, “I’ll cut AB some slack because he’s done a very good job so far.” Maybe they think that Harrison isn’t a 3- down linebacker. I don’t know for sure, but the fact remains that Jordan Phillips is a Cleveland Brown. Let’s hope that this wasn’t a swing and a miss.

115 – Harrison Bryant: Nice pick. It’ll be even nicer if he can show that he can block consistently well. David Njoku has been officially put on notice with this pick.

160 – Nick Harris: I like the pick because he can play either guard or center efficiently. Before the draft, the team really didn’t have a true backup at center, but now they do.

187 – Donovan Peoples-Jones: I like the pick. He’s got ability and was underused at TSUN. For the record, I don’t give a rat’s donkey where the kid played his college ball. If he can play, he can play. Now to say the he reminds people of Josh Cribbs is a bit of an overstatement. Cribbs was not only a return specialist; but he was a gunner on punt coverage, and often times the one who made the tackle. I’m not ready to put him in the same category as Cribbs yet. And the Braylon Edwards thing is also a bit lofty at this point. Time will tell concerning all this, but I’m willing to give him an opportunity to prove himself at the NFL level.

Overall, I’d have to say that this appears to be a very good draft. Check back with me after two or three seasons and we can all talk about this draft over a few pops.

When it comes to football, Joe Thomas could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady wearing white gloves. Who am I to disagree with Joe?

Delpit has some prima donna attitude that needs to be knocked down a peg. Hopefully that happens in the preseason and not while we’re playing the Steelers. Until you’re as good as Prime Time, you need to tackle.

Re:Phillips, I’ll give our new guys the benefit of the doubt for now. They saw something that convinced he’d be better for our team.

Bryant proves that this front office snatches up TE’s like the last one collected DB’s. BPA where he was drafted. I think he’ll be a nice addition to special teams too. I would have thought this was a shot across the bow to Njoku but we just picked up his option so….

I’d like to pump the breaks here. He was likely a BPA guy because of his combine numbers but he wasn’t a great college player, just a really good one.

I believe Wills will be able to make the transition from RT to RT and had him as number 2 behind Wirfs but if Joe Thomas says he was the best, then I will take his word. The Browns front office knew what they wanted and got him.

Grant Delpit was a player I wanted and was really happy the Browns drafted him. I do believe he is going to surprise some people and think it was a really solid pick.

I didn’t want the Browns to trade down and draft Elliot because I really want Zach Baun. While we did pick up a 3rd rounder next year, I hated this move.

I wanted Malik Harrison and since he was drafted right after Phillips, and by our rival, they will always be compared to each other.

Harrison Bryant was a solid pick. He won the Mackey award which goes to the nations best TE. I think this pick really shows how well Berry and Stefanski work together. Stefanski runs a lot of 2 and 3 TE formations and having 3 quality TEs is a plus.

Nick Harris is a 5th round bonus pick for moving down 3 spots in round 2 and still getting the player we targeted (we weren’t drafted Taylor, Shenault Jr, or Kmet). Could be the future starting center so this is a solid move by Berry.

I wanted KJ Hill here but Peoples-Jones was the number 1 rated WR coming out of HS and a 5 star recruit. He has the ability to be a solid returner immediately and he could wind up being one of the steals in the draft. I will always be comparing him to KJ Hill because that is who I wanted.

Agree that the front office seemed to know who they wanted even if I didn’t always want the same player. The 3rd next year will be nice.
