Feel free to remove this post if you find it too political. Only posting because it’s Browns related

June 14, 2020 at 11:45 am #19104MDP Sack AttackParticipantAnyone who accuses Baker of not having enough spine to say/do what he wants doesn’t know Baker Mayfield.
Nothing about taking a knee disrespects the military or the flag, and that has been stated repeatedly. It’s showing respect for those who are treated unjustly in our nation. I’d be surprised if there are many players who do not take a knee this year.
June 14, 2020 at 1:30 pm #19105the dudeParticipantI don’t care if you knee or stand. It is your prefence and people defend our lives for your freedom of speech everyday. I just ask be respectful of people’s choices.

June 15, 2020 at 10:19 am #19106BrownsFan4LifeParticipantMayfield says he doesn’t care if he loses fans because of his kneeling just shows his immaturity. Of course no one accused him of being a good leader. He could have easily said that he respects whatever decisions someone makes but he will be kneeling. Instead he just said take it or leave it.
I really wouldn’t expect anything else from him. This just shows me that he really hasn’t changed at all. It is his way or the highway, take it or leave it. He needs to grow up on and off the field.

Being a leader has zero to do with fans, it has to do with teammates who he just publicly told he has their backs and will kneel. No fan who is against kneeling will claim they’d respect him if he said it the way you wanted him to. By the same token, if we start winning, no one will give a damn if he kneels or wears a hate like many of the people complaining do

June 15, 2020 at 11:20 am #19108DawgSoldierParticipantBottom line for me, when you have had to hand a folded flag to widow, and walked the halls of the burn unit of Brooke Army Medical Center.
The flag will mean something different you.

The flag will mean something different you.Get pulled over by police and killed simply for the color of your skin and the flag will mean something different to you.
The point is – when they tell you it’s not about the military nor disrespectful to the military – they are telling the truth. Just as you standing and saluting doesn’t make you racist or disrespecting black lives matter.
Hopefully that sheds some perspective on it for you. I respect both views of the way people look at the flag. Doing one doesn’t mean you disrespect the other. Intention is everything.

June 15, 2020 at 10:07 pm #19110mike barnesParticipantI go back to the way i was brought up and Taught in school and in the U.S.N, you stand for the flag remove your hat and place your hand over your heart period we were all taught that as children, just like opening a door for a lady, and if that’s somehow wrong today screw it I’ll never change, too many men and women of all races have died and been buried under that flag for it to mean any less for me.

Intention is everything.I see like this soup. Folks the Westburrow Baptists can protest the war(s) at military funerals and it is their legal right. Folks can kneel during the anthem as well as both protests are covered under the 1st amendment which states: “peaceably assemble”. Now just because you can do something legal doesn’t make it right.
See Westburrow Baptist’s using hatefull language to all kinds of people. They have a legal right to but that doesn’t make it right.

June 16, 2020 at 11:56 am #19112soupParticipantWhile I respect your position, taking a knee in silence isn’t the same as holding up degrading signs. The issue people saying it’s disrespectful to the military is:
“ Retired Army Green Beret Nate Boyer is the man who first convinced Colin Kaepernick to kneel during the national anthem.”
A veteran convinced him to kneel. They tell you they aren’t doing it against the military. You can’t make a claim they are.

June 16, 2020 at 10:01 pm #19113IceKeymasterIt sounds like the entire team will be taking a knee during the anthem. Our new HC is very ‘woke’.
I absolutely hate injecting politics into football, whether I agree with the politics or not. I don’t want to be reminded of the ‘real world’ when I’m watching my Browns on Sunday.

Highly likely that will happen. Even if the NFL doesn’t broadcast it, news outlets surely will. I fully expect photos of every team on the sidelines kneeling during the anthem to be front page on every website.
June 25, 2020 at 11:25 am #19116BrownsFan4LifeParticipantNate Boyer doesn’t speak for all military. It is just one mans opinion. I know plenty of people, retired and active who think it is disrespectful to kneel during the national anthem.
July 2, 2020 at 1:51 am #19117ShooterModeratorI’m very excited I remembered my password for this place.
It took a minute, but I got here. Had to go into my settings and everything. Google man, it’s like the father I never had.
So what’s the problem here? Kneeling? Bakers gonna kneel?
Is Zod screaming at him? No?
Then who gives a shit?
July 2, 2020 at 3:11 pm #19118the dudeParticipant@ice if you don’t want to be reminded of politics during football Sundays, you will have an awakening…. It is an election year.
I choose to stand for the flag. Of course, my ancestors were not lynched or whipped and forced to work for opposite race. So I don’t blame one side or the other.
You know what other countries force people to stand for the flag? North Korea, China, Russia. I don’t personally like to be labeled the same as them and their poor human rights.

July 3, 2020 at 4:06 pm #19125DawgSoldierParticipantnow there sis asupposed natinal black anthem supposed to be played week one in the NFL.
