IMO this is more about money than anything else. Forbes spent most of last year injured, appearing in only 2 games (both Cincy games). If he opts out, he can get healthy for a whole year, gets $150k for the season and his contract tolls. Guys on the roster bubble may be able to make more money by opting out.
I think there’s going to be many, many more players opting out, especially now that a few stars are doing it. Lower level players have an incentive to do so, and established players are already millionaires, so why take a risk playing this year? It took baseball one weekend to start postponing games. How is the NFL going to deal with that?
