September 27, 2015 at 7:02 pm #2196mike barnesParticipantI’m no fan of jff but we’ve got to know beyond a shadow of a doubt wheither or not he’s the guy going foreward. today I saw a qb that in my opinion was a better choice in last years draft show us what a good young signal caller can do.
September 28, 2015 at 1:11 am #2197mike barnesParticipantseeing how Carr and Bridgewater are playing at this stage in their carriers and how far Johnny football is from being at that level only makes me think of the money the team wasted on the research they paid for that said Bridgewater should have been the guy, either way Johnny needs to play so we know what do do next April, oh and drafting a wide receiver that’s taller than 5 foot 9 might be a good idea too, just saying.

Clearly Carr is better than JFF. As for knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt, our coaches watch JFF and McCown all week long and there is no question in their mind who the starter of the team should be. They would have started a concussed McCown last week over Manziel if the league had let them. If Manziel can’t beat McCown, can’t even make it a close competition in the coaches eyes then I think that’s all we need to know about him.
September 28, 2015 at 11:47 am #2203MDP Sack AttackParticipantI’m still of the same mindset I was going into the season: there’s literally no point in starting McCown. This is not a playoff team. We need to see if Johnny can hack it in this league, because our priorities this offseason depend on it. We have way too many holes to fill to leave QB as a “maybe”.
September 28, 2015 at 12:16 pm #2204soupParticipantYou start McCown if you are playing to win. JFF is not worthy of being on an NFL roster. For those will say “but we won last week” Here’s a stat for you. Through the first 3 weeks teams that allow 14 or less points in a game are 19-1.
Last week Browns were 4-11 on 3rd down – 33% – with 24 minutes TOP
This week Browns were 8-16 on 3rd down – 50% with 27 minutes TOPManziel on the year is 8-16 on 3rd/4th down
McCown on the year is 13-16 on 3rd/4th down.Freedom!!!

That is exactly it – I don’t even get the McCown signing. Its a complete joke.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

So start Manziel? We have the league’s 27th ranked defense, worst run defense, and we haven’t even played a good offense yet. Add in one of the worst rushing attacks in the league, and what about this team says “play to win”?
At least our uniforms are ugly this year.
September 29, 2015 at 9:30 am #2215akron pros1920Participantread in the plain dealer web site that there is some dissension on the offense (at least 3 players) who told the reporter they feel more confident with JFF.
that is all we need this early with all the other problems.
i have been around since the Frank Ryan vs Jim Ninowski vs Milt Plum debates…but do not remember teammates coming out favoring one over another
World Champion 1920 Akron Pros still undefeated!
September 29, 2015 at 12:04 pm #2217soupParticipantI bet those 3 players don’t get any playing time. 53% completion compared to 57%. 8-16 completion on 3rd/4th down compared to 13-16 on 3rd/4th down.
Doubting anyone legit is more comfortable with the inaccurate guy that can’t read a defense, leaves the pocket too early and rarely goes through any progressions on routes.

3 takeaways
14 points allowed (through 3 weeks teams who allow 14 or less points in a game are 19-1)
Punt return for a TDOld Man McCown vs Raiders:

2 real 3 and outs (real meaning not kneeling 3 times before half/3 straight runs up the gut to run out the clock, etc.)
27 minute TOPBrowns defense/ST vs. Tennessee:

Muffed punt at the 50 with under 3 minutes left in the game down by 7
