    Gameballs –

Josh McCown – owns the record for most yard passing in a Browns uniform.
Our twin running backs – even though numbers weren’t super on the ground, they both took huge rolls in the passing game.
Offensive line – all sacks were on McCown for dancing in the pocket.
Barnidge – guy is looking like a monster out there.

    Goats
Defense – terrible penalties at terrible times
Refs – some question calls on us and not on the Rats who do the same thing – pulling guys by their legs
Travis Coons – for coming out in regards to like to hit and then hit a guy 10 yards out of bounce.
Coaches – delay of games is just poor and not acceptable.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

While the defense had some rough spots they held the rats when we were down 21-9 that allowed us to take a 22-21 lead and then had a 3 and out against the rats to start OT and set up our game winning drive.

Yes the defense needs work but when it really mattered in OT they got the job done. Would feel a lot better if they had more than 3 decent series the entire game.

If we had lost I would have given them a goat but we won so they get nothing.

    McCown and Barnage were awesome.
The Crow had a few decent runs late in the game.
I don’t see how we threw for so many passing yards with such weak receivers.

I usually don’t do the gameball/goats thing (Soup totally ruined me here), but I’m actually gonna give my expert analysis (huh huh, anal) on what I saw.

    Gameballs-

Josh McMuthafuckin’Cown- I wish I’d signed and started you on my fantasy team this week, good sir. The man has been nothing short of amazing these past 3 games. You’re a fool if you haven’t come around to the idea that this guy is a starter-worthy performer, if not an elite one.

John DeFillippo- Great work on recognizing what the Rats had in mind (run blitzing like mad) and trusting in your QB to make the throws necessary to beat what they were throwing at them…while not totally abandoning the run. Now if only you can perfect the ZBS so we can get our RBs a little space, you might find a way to make this offense damn good. In any case, you’ve proved you belong, my man.

Gary Barnidge- Jordan WHO? I admit, I always viewed you as a blocking TE and one of those guys who would get open every now and again…until this season. This is Pro Bowl-worthy shit you’ve got going on. Please, don’t ever leave this team.

The Smurfs (Benjamin, Hawkins, Gabriel)- Remember one thing about these guys- before the beginning of the season, the WRs on this team were completely written off by the media and most folks were buying into that crap. They may be small, but they are playing above and beyond any set standard of what their size dictates…I mean, could you imagine a 6’4″ Benji, playing with the technique and heart that he possesses? These guys come to play every week, and find a way to make shit happen.

Crowell/Johnson- OK, so your line isn’t creating much space for you guys. So you go out and make plays as receivers, huh? Yeah, that’ll work for me. I’m personally digging this tandem.

Travis Coons- Rookie kicker, beating out a dude nicknamed “Murderleg”, and perfect on all your kicks so far this season, including a win over the hated Rats? I like you, boss. Might be the best thing that’s happened to this team since a guy named Dawson was here- but I’m not ready to give you that accolade…yet.

    Goats-

Jim O’Neil- Dude, what happened? Now that Pettine has handed you the keys, you’ve taken what was a decent defense (yeah, I know, except for the run D) and turned it to…well, I don’t know what you call whatever this is. The offense bailed you out this week; I suggest looking at the last 5 weeks of tape and figuring out what is wrong here, or you won’t have a gig in Cleveland anymore (unless your buddy Pettine saves your ass). This is completely unacceptable.

The Front Seven- Guys, c’mon. This defense is making more money than any other team in the NFL and what is it you have to show for it? I don’t care that Dansby had 11 tackles, or that Whitner about killed a man for a pass break-up. Individual efforts like that don’t get you your Pro Bowl ticket, the rest of the team around you does. Get your heads out of your asses and make some tackles, sacks, and turnovers, or you’ll find that the Browns won’t be the highest paid defense anymore.

Dwayne Bowe- Why the fuck we ever agreed to pay this guy 9 million guaranteed is a mystery I’ll never solve. The last time he was a decent player was 5 or 6 years back…and that’s all he’s done for this team- take their money. Drop this fuck, go get Terrell Pryor back. Or Nate Burleson. Or Paul Warfield. Complete waste of good money here, folks.

Danny Shelton- Rookie, got it. But the way the praises were sung about him, you’d have thought it was the second coming of Jamal Williams or Casey Hampton. But not only have I seen him getting bullied (even one on one!), but committing unnecessary roughness twice in a game? Dude, you’re killing us. And take some cardio too, because as it stands, your getting exhausted out there.

Up next, Denver. And yes, if we can beat them, I’m thinking Super Bowl this year. But unless we play mistake-free football on BOTH sides of the ball…

Well, I’ll see you folks in the chat next week.

    Game Balls:

Travis Coons – we have the WORST red zone offense in the NFL (as stated by the announcers – I believe we were 27% TDs). This dude is money. 4 for 4 including the game winner.

Josh McCown – Seriously? 51 passes – 70.5% completion with 9 YPA. WHAT???? When did he become Aaron Rodgers?

Gary Barnagde – 8 catches for 139 yards and a TD. 2nd best TE in he NFL to Gronk. He’s playing out of his mind.

    Goats:

Joe Haden – for being abused yet again.

OLB’s – worst in the NFL by far.

    Jim O’Neil – seriously? 181 yards rushing?

Officials – you tried fixing the game and you lost. I hate Tripplett as much as he hates the Browns.

Jordan Poyer – take a geometry class. Learn about angles.

Agree with @Soup, there’s no place for that here. Just lost a ton of respect for you as well, Syd.

And Dawson, I’d move Coons into the Gameballs category. Yes, he had a dumb penalty, but 4/4 with a game-winner is 4/4 with a game winner.

The only reason I put him there is because of his comment on Cleveland.com about him liking to hit people and tackle and yet he did it worst scenario.

Well, interesting thread open up first, geez!

Don’t really know if the offense can sustain this level of play. McCown looks like he’s 25 and operating like a surgeon.

I KNOW the defense can’t sustain this level of play. They’re operating like a 75-year-old 17th century surgeon.

Welcome back to the ground where I own you.

Just kidding – you knew you were welcome 🙂

I actually think it is the opposite of what you said. I think he is playing like a 45 year old offensive coordinator who has won a super bowl. His arm is really on the downhill. Yes, he broke the Browns record this week. But if you hadn’t notice how many balls dropped this season, then I cannot watch the games for you. But I will give McCown so so so much credit. He is playing very smart 95% if the time. He should have had more picks last game. 2 were lucky and one was called back by the refs – very lucky.

So far, I can say, I was disappointed that we signed McCown, but he has not disappointed me and played better than my expectation.

Listen, I saw a movie called 300. If they can keep that hole as small as the first girl you banged, then we may win a couple more surprising games.

You claimed when he came back you weren’t going to watch the games (you even stated you didn’t watch the game McCown came back from after his injury). So to say that his arm is going downhill is just plain silly. 67.8% completion. 8.1 YPA on 149 attempts isn’t any indication whatsoever of him having trouble with intermediate+ routes. In fact, it’s just the opposite. Is he Aaron Rodgers? Hell no. Not even Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers.

typically is a ball falls short on a deep route it’s because it wasn’t thrown soon enough.

Overall, like you, I didn’t want him – just like you – I’m amazed at the way he’s played. He’s been excellent.

As for the “picks that didn’t happen” (aside from the obvious bad throw called back on roughing) was the “almost pick” on the WR or on McCown? The Monday Night Game – Steelers Chargers was a perfect example of what piss poor route running can do. (Rivers pick 6 – Michael Vick’s “almost pick”)

Points taken boys. All I’m saying is that honestly, when the entire world was clamoring for Johnny, making the case that Johnny should be given the shot for obvious reasons, the “we need to know”‘s and “what’s the harm”s, that Pettine has the “noooooooope, not yet, this is gonna be the way of it because we know more than you and he’s not ready” is looking like a really solid, focused, and sound decision.

Can this be sustained? Of course not. What is he, 36, 37? Fuck I’m 37 and I’m just now completely understanding that conversation I had with my doctor when I bent my knee backwards in 8th grade and shredded it and he said to me “later in life you’re probably going to have some issues”. Yes. Yes well I’m later in life, it’s been 23 years, and this thing is fucking killing me almost daily. Now, NOW I believe him. So no, I’m not pinning my hopes on this guy nor do I believe that he’s any sort of answer.

But he is, playing his fucking ass off. I see Josh doing his thing, and then we all see ‘ol Weeden down there in Dallas getting benched for Matt Cassel and I’m like “yeah, well, what would you expect? See!”

On the same token, I saw Lee Suggs break a Jim Brown record once too so, we need to take this shit for what it’s worth and I’m not really down to blow smoke up anyones ass and I’m damn sure aware that none of you are either.

Johnny just got rowdy on 480 with his girlie now too so I guess we’re back to swan diving with this fuckin guy again it would seem, so this shit is a fuckin mess.

But there might be something here.

If the defense let’s every running back cut through them like a drunk fat chick at the bar that has to pee though, we have some issues.
