Do we need to “see what we have” in Manziel?

Not even just this week, but at any point this year? My answer is no. As long as McCown is healthy Manziel should stay firmly planted on the bench. McCown isn’t great, but he’s not the problem and Manziel sure as hell isn’t the answer. We’ve already seen what we have in Manziel for a year and a half; we have a guy who can’t keep it together on or off the field. He wasted an entire season by being devoted to his celebrity instead of football. He didn’t improve himself on the field at all in a whole year. He has worked to improve himself this year, but is it enough?

After every offensive series a favorite camera shot is the QB walking toward the bench, sitting down with a coach and going over plays. Until the St. Louis game, Manziel was NEVER in that picture. He was never going over what the defense was showing. Finally in the St. Louis game we saw Manziel actually speak to a coach on the sidelines and look at a photo of the defense.

I’ve seen all I need to see from Manziel. He’s not our QB of the future. He’s a fantastic college QB but yet another guy who isn’t good enough or committed enough to make it in the NFL.

No, we already know what we have in him. He’s lazy and not smart enough to pick up the duties of an NFL QB. He’s football dumb. He’s also way too selfish to be a leader. I wish we’d have already cut him because he detracts from the roster.

I have to agree with Ice and Soup here. What more do you want to see? The guy makes terrible decisions on and off the field. Manziel has showed us what he is. At this point hoping that he’s changed is like wishing for a miracle.

I don’t think he will ever make the starting lineup period. He is not very good at all and I think we will go draft another qb this year.

Worst pick in our history if you ask me.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

As one that was quite vocal about not wanting Johnny in the first place, the words “I told you so” just seem so inadequate to express myself now. Cut the cord and cut your losses with both Johnny and Justin Gilbert. While the Browns are at it, how about terminating the contract of the “healthy inactive” Dwayne Bowe? And since we’re on such a roll, how about relieving the man responsible for the draft these past two years, Ray Farmer, of his duties as GM for his ineptitude at selecting first round draft picks?

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

@UncleBill I don’t think anyone wanted Manziel. Would anyone claim to have been even remotely excited?

I wouldn’t jump the gun on Gilbert. He is still fresh….maybe he will improve.

    Hue Jackson is a loser.

While we have to of terrible picks, hard to argue with that.

Did you read Shooter’s link to worst losses in history – a ranking of all the losses. Like it was pretty rad going through those losses and remember what I was doing those sundays or if I was at the game. I remember that opening Colts game that was 10-6…I was so mad it was the only time I saw Manning play the Browns and he didn’t score a touchdown…..dude, i am running down memory lane tonight.

What is even worst is I remember the losses a lot better than I do the wins.

When the former outweigh the latter at a 4-1 margin, it’s almost impossible not to.

Aside from the losses, there’s also the injury history that is almost equally unbelievable.

Hey we signed Chris Spielman! Breaks neck in preseason, never plays in the NFL again.

Jamir Miller is a beast! Tears Achilles, never plays in the NFL again.

We signed LeCharles Bentley! Tears ACL in first play of first practice in preseason, develops staph infection, never plays in the NFL again.

Kellen Winslow. Breaks leg on an onside kick. Develops staph infection. Crashes motorcycle, mangles leg, develops staph infection. Plays a few more years in Tampa, last known account of him is getting arrested for masturbating in a Target parking lot (no really, I’m not making that up, Google it).

Had a guy whose name escapes me, tear BOTH patellar tendons

      AT THE SAME TIME

defending a pass, never plays in the NFL again.

Orlando Brown. Gets hit in the eye with a refs flag. Detaches retina, shoves ref, never plays in the NFL again.

Hey ya hear we signed Erricht Rhett? Develops Plantiar Facitis. Never plays in the NFL again.

I know there’s more but this was just off the top of my head.

I’m serious, this shit just can’t be made up. I’ll be a Browns fan til the day I die, but geeeeeeeez, this shit is just, I don’t even have words for it anymore.
