    QB IS NOT THE PROBLEM!

Usually after a 1pm game I’m sick of football so I turn it off. I’ve been watching Browns football for so long I’m used to seeing crap football. Last night I watched the steelers game and the single biggest difference between our team and theirs is not the QB, it’s the offensive line. Their RB’s had about 3 yards of fresh air before they get touched by a defender, ours get hit as soon as they take the handoff in the backfield. Their QB has a big clean pocket for a couple seconds. Our QB has a defender in his face as soon as the ball is snapped.

We lost our o-line coach to domestic abuse when the season began. Players didn’t change, line coach did. Coaching is the key.

And as for Manziel starting, they better get rid of the billion bubble screens and throw the real playbook at him. Make sure he fails so we can dump the bum (I’m not saying call bad plays – I’m saying call real QB plays so he falls on his face).

The right side of our line was terrible last year. They’re terrible again this year. The players didn’t change. Erving got drafted and frankly sucks. I was excited about him since he’s a player from FSU who was dominant. He can’t even beat Schwartz, even though everyone else in the NFL does it on a weekly basis.

Soup, I’m going to be honest I have no idea what the hell you’re talking about. You kept hammering this point after the Pitt game and kept saying that was where all of his yardage came from. I disputed this, yet you kept going on about it as if it were a total fact.

Well, it’s not. It’s not even close.

Here’s a highlight of his passes in the game

Almost all of his completions are shown. The majority of them coming from in the pocket. Funny, I don’t see even ONE bubble screen. Not 1.

    Here’s the Play-by-play gamelog

Go ahead. Read it. Read every completion.

Duke Johnson and Isiah Crowell combined for 5 catches. 5. 2 of the ones to Duke Johnson were clearly not “bubble screens”.

That means that 3, count them 1,2,3, THREE of Manziel’s 33 completions were “screens”. That means that the other 30, THIRTY, were downfield completions to WR’s, wiith about 27 of them coming form “in the pocket”.

So please, after looking at indisputable photographic and statistically documented proof, go the extra mile here for me and try your best to explain to me exactly what the fuck it is that you’re talking about.

Seriously, try. because i saw over 90% of his completions coming on downfield throws to Wide Receivers, and it irrefutably destroys any claims of a “billion” bubble screens that you, for whatever reason, seem to be attemtping to pound into everyones head.

You know, I hope he goes in and lights it up these next 4 games. Fuck the first pick, I want to see whatever the fuck the front office envisioned for him when they used (or wasted) #22 on him.

    Sink or swim dude.

I mean I just don’t get it. During and after the Pitt game, he kept going on and on that all of his passes and the majority of his yardage came from screens. I kept thinking and saying “dude what are you talking about, I’ve seen like 1 screen in this game every throw is coming from the pocket”. But he kept insisting.

Knowing now that arguments with Soup are an exercise in futility, I just let it go. But he brought it up again, and again I was like “seriously, he’s fuckin crazy on this” so I decided to go back and actually look to see if maybe I was, and see if I was only seeing what I wanted to see and had missed a bunch.

Nope. I was absolutely correct and Soup is, without question, batshit crazy on this one. 5 passes to running backs, out of 33. At least 3 of those were designed plays or checkdowns to the back out in the flat, nothing at all that would qualify as a “screen”.

I just honestly have no clue whatsoever what the hell he’s talking about. When 28 of your 33 completions are downfield passes to WR’s, and almost all of those are from the pocket, saying things like “all of his yardage came from screens”, “he’s not making any throws from the pocket”, and “he’s throwing ‘a billion’ screen passes” destroys credibility and screams to me that he’s hating just to hate. I mean, if you hate the guy just come out and say “It doesn’t matter what the guy does, I hate him and will continue to hate him”. That I can at least understand. I’d think it would be nonsensical and totally illogical, but I could at least say “well, that’s how he feels”. That’s not what’s happening here. This is me standing next to a tree, and Soup looking at me and saying it’s a stop sign. With a straight face and being completely serious. Even if I pluck a leaf off a branch, “dude, that’s a fucking Stop Sign, are you blind?”

I mean hell, Johnny threw for 372 yards. 22 of them went to RB’s. that means that 350 yards, literally 94% of his yardage, came on throws downfield, to receivers.

Where he’s coming up with this “billion bubble screens” take is just beyond me.

I’ll come out and say I don’t like Manziel, never have. I don’t think I need to say that because I’ve said it about 100 times. But I still wish he had been an awesome Cleveland Brown. In fact I think I’ve got more desire for him to be an awesome QB for the Browns than he does.

I’m in the same boat with you on that one.

I’m all for knocking a guy for things that he deserves to be knocked for. He’s a cocky punk, he’s not taking things seriously, he’s a distraction, all he cares about is partying, he’s not big enough, his style of play doesn’t work in the NFL, he doesn’t know how to read a defense, he locks on his receivers, he panics if the 1st read is covered………..any of that you’re not going to hear a peep from me about. They’re all reasons why I didn’t want him in the 1st place.

I just hate it when people pile on just for the sake of doing it, make things up that are blatantly untrue, and then beat him up for those things. I heard a guy on the radio the other day talking about how on of the reasons Manziel stinks is because he’s got tiny hands. He’s got huge hands, it was widely discussed at the combine, and has hands bigger than half the league. It’s just an untrue statement to make, yet so many will hear it, believe it, regurgitate it and add it to the list. I hate that shit. “He can’t stay in the pocket and make a throw”. Really? Because he did it 27 times against Pittsburgh, his best game of his brief career so far. “He’s got a weak arm”. That’s just a lazy, bullshit thing to say, because the fact is, dude can spin it.

I get that people want to dog on the guy, and almost all of it is deserved. I’m one of the people who do it. But do it based on facts, not fantasies and outright lies, that shit just bugs the hell out of me.

This “bubble screen” crap was a perfect example of it. It’s just lazy.
