Participant…wow, Ray Horton? I wouldn’t mind that, one little bit. Then again, ANYONE is an upgrade over O’niel.

ModeratorI just mentioned in the other thread, Horton coming back would have me giddy. We had a solid defense under Horton, and I’d love to have him back.

ParticipantNow I’m seeing Tampa Bay’s DC Leslie Frazier is also a possibility. Don’t know much about him.

Funny, I just read that comment there, reload the forum page and seen this comment.

KeymasterLeslie Fraser was HC at Minn briefly, but he’s a DB guy IIRC. Maybe I’m thinking of someone else? Solid guy, tons of experience at DC. Ray Horton should be a familiar name to everyone here. You like Blitzing? You like Horton. Kruger would be giddy.

I am not sure a Tampa 2 would fit the personnel ICE.
Besides if Horton comes back we can have all kinds of Dr. Seus fun.
After Horton would have to hear from Hue 1st :p

ParticipantMayhew being interviewed as GM is garbagy. That said, hard to get GM candidates from winners. But his Detroit drafts weren’t much better than ours

ParticipantI hear Frazier’s and Horton’s names a LOT. Horton is currently under contract at Tennessee and may not be granted permission to interview. Frazier is currently the DC at Tampa Bay and is under contract as well. Perhaps if the tag of “Assistant Head Coach” is added to the DC responsibilities, that might change things – perhaps not.
My guess is that Jackson will want to run a 4-3 set like Oakland and Cincinnati have been running. In that case, I actually see Danny Shelton develop into a very good 3 technique in time.
Jackson wants to call the plays on offense, so who would be a good candidate for OC? Maybe Ken Zampese – current QB’s coach at Cincinnati. Does “Flip” have a legitimate shot at being retained? I really don’t know.
I want to see Chris Tabor retained as Special Teams Coordinator. As part of a coaching staff seemingly in a constant state of flux, he’s been a rock of stability – outlasting three head coaches.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

ParticipantAnother name I’d like to toss out there for DC . . . Lovie Smith, anyone?

KeymasterLovie Smith as DC? Awesome. Can we get Superman at QB and the Flash at RB too? 😉

ParticipantA name I heard said not sure it has substance as a move but Mike Singletary for DC.
Been a LB Coach and HC never a DC though to my knowledge.

ParticipantLosing Horton in the first place was idiotic. I’d love Hue to get him back. Then I hope Haslam gets smacked in the face for being a moron and getting rid of Chud, Turner and Horton.

KeymasterIt turns out that the Browns have not shown any interest in Frazier or Horton. Where did that ‘leak’ from? It comes from John Wooten, chairman of the Fritz-Pollard Alliance who is in charge of promoting minority candidates. He states that Ray is very interested in coming back to Cleveland but there is nothing saying that Cleveland is interested in getting Horton. What about Frazier? Are the Browns truly interested in him? Here is what Wooten has to say about the origins of that ‘rumor’…
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2016/01/ray_horton_wants_to_return_to.html“Wooten also confirmed cleveland.com’s report that former Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is on the Browns’ radar. Frazier would not need permission to interview because the Bucs have not picked up his option for 2016.
“We’ve thrown Leslie Frazier’s name in the hat there because of his outstanding ability to coach and teach,” said Wooten.
The key word there is “We’ve”. The FPA is the one floating all these rumors. These are not names leaked by the Browns. This is what frustrates me about this process. These names get floated around and we sit here and discuss them but they have absolutely nothing to do with the Browns search. It’s the guy’s agents or some 3rd party like the FPA and it pisses me off.
