Whitner isn’t a huge surprise. His contract was putting a target on his back and despite his cheerleading for the team we’re going for youth. Ekpre-Olomu is a disappointment but I’m still glad they took the shot. His knee must be in really bad shape. It’s sad to see a guy’s career ended by a freak injury before it even begins. Still when there’s a CB with his skills and a possibility of playing after healing for a year, a 7th round pick isn’t a bad investment.

    Ekpre-Olalamaluau is a bit of a surprise.

The last I read/heard about him, that knee was healing up well and he was in great spirits about playing this year. Apparently it took a bad turn.

I agree, damn shame. He was regarded as a 1st round talent, and talk of the Browns getting a steal. (Then again, that right there should have been the sure-fire kiss of death. The browns don’t get those).

    S possibilities on the roster:

    20 Moore, Rahim FS 6-1 195 26 6 UCLA
    21 Gilbert, Justin DB 6-0 202 24 3 Oklahoma State
    22 Williams, Tramon DB 6-0 192 33 10 Louisiana Tech
    26 Desir, Pierre DB 6-2 206 25 3 Lindenwood
    30 Campbell, Ibraheim SS 5-11 208 23 2 Northwestern
    33 Poyer, Jordan DB 6-0 191 24 4 Oregon State
    35 Jones, Don DB 5-11 205 25 4 Arkansas State
    37 Scott, Tim DB 5-11 195 23 1 North Carolina
    40 Baker, Sean DB 6-0 209 27 2 Ball State

If I had to guess what the depth chart looks like now:

SS: Campbell then Jones/Scott/Baker in a scrum for the 4th spot
    FS: Moore then Poyer

So . . . Now with Whitner gone, how long until Josh McCown and Joe Thomas are traded away? After all, they’re rebuilding through the draft with younger players – right?

Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!

Josh McCown will be gone soon, I have no doubt. JT will stick around this season I think.

Of the older players – Joe Thomas is the one that would make zero sense and have me saying these guys should be fired prior to the season. We have a 26 year old QB and are presumably grabbing a potential future QB in this draft so he’ll be 21-23 years old? You don’t get a young QB and take away his blind side protector. McCown, Whitner, Dansby – etc – all are somewhat justifiable for the house cleaning. Thomas would not be justifiable in the least.

It all depends on what they get in trade. If they get 3 top 10 first round picks, then that’s probably a nice deal.

Meet the new boss . . . Same as the old boss.

You know what’s amazing? In our 16 years back we’ve yet to attempt to build anything. We dig a hole – then throw dirt in it and re-dig it every 2 years. Had they been able to keep Schwartz, Gipson, Bademosi and Benji I’d have thought they were building (since the oldest player there is 26). But you are right – it’s a rehash. What sucks is Hue is a fantastic coach – too bad he’ll be fired in less than 2 years. Then we’ll cut everyone we drafted and do it all again.
