ShooterModeratorPryor has always, always been a spoiled, cocky fucking prick. I’ve discussed this before. He’s an asshole, and there’s very little that can be said to dispute that. Entitled, Arrogant prick of a guy and player.
That said, is he worth it? Depends. Where is his contract with us right now? (I don’t know). If he’s with us next year for cheap, honestly, hell yes he’s worth it. Is he a superstar? No. But he can definitely be a “star” player. A valuable, integral part of a winning team. And for all of his cocky doucheness, I will say one thing: It comes from a competitive drive to win. He thinks he’s the best player on the field, and thinks that his team is better than the team that they’re playing. That’s not exactly a horrible mindset to have. When Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers are on the sidelines bitching people out and showing emotion, they’re “competitive” and “passionate”, but when Dez Bryant does it, it’s “disruptive”. I’ve never understood that. I think Pryor falls into the category of the Bryant description. I think if the browns were a team that was, say, 8-3 after 11 weeks, Pryor would be a beast out there. Killing it week in and week out for us. That fire to win runs deep. It’s just that when we’re 0-for-the season, it’s a distraction. It looks bad.
So, in short. Yes. If his contract is friendly and doesn’t decide to go prima donna and want elite WR money, yeah, he’s worth it.

IceKeymasterI thought Terrell Owens was extremely entertaining, especially because he backed up everything he said on the field and then some. Pryor hasn’t earned it yet. He had a few nice games.

the dudeParticipantIts funny that you guys criticize a guy who is trying to inspire a team. Remember when he said they will not lose another game?
To compare him to TO is simply not right. TO was cancer. An elite player who couldn’t get along with anyone.
TP is not like that at all. Is he the best in the game? Not even close – can he still improve and get better and be a strong asset to cleveland – I believe so.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

IceKeymasterLet me clarify.
Remember Freddie Mitchell? After a single good game, he started giving press conferences giving himself nicknames like “Fredex”, the “Sultan of Slot”, and “First Down Freddie”. He then proceeded to thank God for his hands.
In his entire NFL career he amassed less than 1300 yards.
I’d love to have TO, I genuinely liked the guy. He made me laugh. I don’t want a Freddie Mitchell.

I believe TP has been an overall team player, a player in the locker room and the sidelines, and a player who shows inspiration as he is still out there trying at the end of a TERRRRRRRIBLE season.

IceKeymasterI’m not putting TP in a basket with Freddie Mitchell, I’m saying that’s a cautionary tale. I believe TP is smart and can use his jawing to get inside an opponents head, he just has to make sure he doesn’t get in his own head too.

I remember Kevin Mitchell a little bit….did we give him big money or something? I cannot remember.
That era of football is all about Russ Verba false starts in my mind.

IceKeymasterThat’s what happens when you’re 0-13. We start picking apart each other because the team is already picked to the bone.

soupParticipantThe following was in the PD today:
for Jones repeatedly calling him ‘garbage’ after the game, Pryor, who leads the Browns with 63 catches and 858 yards, couldn’t argue.
“He had the right,” said Pryor. “I was garbage that day. I had one catch, three yards. He was right. It was an accurate statement.”
Respect level for Pryor just increased tenfold.

ShooterModeratorAgain, as I mentioned earlier, Pryor’s cocky douchness comes from a burning desire to win. If you can back up your brashness with talent (which I believe he can), then it’s not a bad mindset to have. We applaud many other athletes for having it all the time.
That he can also feast on humble pie after a poor performance is, as mentioned, admirable. No excuse riddled tirade, no “well, that’s because because blah blah blah”, he just owned it. That’s awesome.
(And to his credit, he didn’t need to own it as much as he did either because the reality is his shitsuck valueless QB did absolutely nothing to get him involved whatsoever and holds more blame for that terrible outing than his own performance. He cant catch footballs that aren’t thrown to him, nor ones that are 10 feet over his head or 5 yards into the ground in front of him. If anyone should have been taking heat in response to Jones’ comments, it should have been Griffin falling on the grenade. He’s the one who threw it in the first place).

That’s a large part of a corners mindset, IMO. They all get beat, even the best ones. Playing the position isn’t a matter of not getting beat, it’s a matter of getting beat less often than other corners are getting beat.
In order to that, you have to convince yourself your the baddest mother on the team, and ignore evidence to the contrary when it’s smacked right in your face.
Oh, and Haden does a metric shit ton for charity, so he’s off limits.
