CSU’s Pick 6 + 1 Week 11

picksixplusone

After a pretty good debut week (5-2) I’m back and ready to pick another 6 +1 for all of you here at BrownsFootballTalk.com. I hope you are all enjoying the new site, and that you’ll find our content appealing, well thought out, and share-worthy. Week 11 is tough, as there are some premier matches with looming playoff implications. After a brief delay with the server switch over, here goes nothin’:

Game One: Seattle Seahawks @ KC Chiefs (Both 6-3):For the sake of Political Correctness, Chief Wahoo, and the Redskins, I am only going to refer to the Kansas City Ch&f$ as the “Kansas City Football Organization”, and come Sunday afternoon Ill refer to them as the losers of week 11.  Beastmode is too much for KC’s strong D, and if there is one team that is used to dealing with the same level of noise as Arrowhead, its the Hawks. Also, totally joking about the Chiefs. Bad jokes and all, Seattle pulls this one out, 27-16.

Game Two: Cincinnati Bengals (5-3-1) @ New Orleans Saints (4-5):  I picked the Saints last week, and although it was a close game, they let me down. Not so this week, NOLA. I am going to take the Bengals in New Orleans this Sunday: The Browns shut them down in every phase of the game last week, and I can only imagine that a 10 day layoff stewing in the depth of that embarrassment cannot possibly sit well with them. Even with Greg Little sitting on the bench, the Bengals somehow manage to pull this one out, 23-21.

Game Three: Atlanta Falcons (3-6) @ Carolina Panthers  (3-6-1): In the battle of the future Browns opponents, two absolutely abysmal defenses face off in the NFC South. In a division where no one seems to want to go to the playoffs, I’ll give this one to the home team. Carolina scrapes by, 17-14.

Game Four: Detroit Lions (7-2) @ Arizona Cardinals (8-1): Talk about a tough one. Let’s discuss the Cardinals for a moment. This is a franchise that has gone from Super Bowl to abysmal to outstanding in just a few years, and with nothing seemingly ready to step in their way, Carson Palmer blows out his 74 year old knee. What is one left to make of that? I’ll tell you: a Detroit Lions victory.  Stafford is getting hot, Megatron is back, and although Stanton is serviceable and the Cardinals D strong, its not enough to hold down a suddenly solid Lions squad. Detroit takes it big, 38-21.

Game Five is always our Sunday Night Game of the Week, and this one won’t disappoint: The Indianapolis Colts (6-3) welcome the New England Patriots (7-2) into town. Records be damned, these are two teams that have been left for dead (Indy’s drubbing at the hands of Pittsburgh and Tom Brady’s slow start) and now are being included in Super Bowl conversation. In the battle of the offense, look for the Patriots to step up in Prime Time, 31-27.

Game Six we leave for Monday Night, and it brings us a game that no one would watch if it wasn’t for the fact that football is awesome. The Steelers (6-4) mosey on down to Nashville to play the Titans (2-7), and everything in me wants to pick the Titans purely out of spite. Do I think the Steelers will crap the bed two weeks in a row against far inferior teams? No way. Ill take the Rapistburgers, 41-17.

And now for the game that matters: Your Cleveland Browns (AFC NORTH LEADING 6-3) vs. Houston Texans (4-5): Everyone in America who is not a Browns fan is picking the Browns. It makes sense, too. Arian Foster is out, and Tashaun Gipson has been upgraded out of concussion protocol. If that were it, Browns worldwide would feel better too; However losing Jordan Cameron again (and Pettine’s cryptic statements about his return) combined with Uncle Phil being gone for the year makes us all nervous.

I say hogwash to all the nervousness: The Cleveland Browns will keep their home field advantage alive. With no Arian Foster,  a recovering (at best) Cushing,  and a professionally sick Peyton Hillis Jadeveon Clowney, I am going to go with our home team Brownies. The Texans will be giving Ryan Mallett his first start of his career, which I am sure will pose some issues in the first quarter for the Brownies. JJ Watt is always going to mess things up for a little while, but he will be going against one of the best lines (and THE best Left Tackle) in the NFL. He has been neutralized twice this season, so why not try a third time? Seriously, after seeing them completely dismantle a team that many thought were a top 5 team in the NFL, in primetime, on the road, how can you not?  The BROWNS extend their winning streak to equal the totality of their wins last year (read that again and realize how fun this season really has been), and beat the Texans, 28-18.

That’s it for this week folks. Lets hope we picked right on everything with the exception of the Steelers, and enjoy your weekend. Don’t drink and drive, buckle up, stay safe, and let’s see the Brownies bring us another AFC North leading victory. See you next week, and GO BROWNS! Here we go Brownies, Here we go….
