ParticipantFlorio is hating on this move (cuz he’s Florio), and the timing is questionable. Shouldn’t the Browns have bigger concerns at the moment then extending a guy who’s contract doesn’t expire until after this year?
That said, I think it’s a smart move to lock him up while we still have some leverage, as he’d risk injury playing this year without a long term deal. Solid move.

IceKeymasterAgain they’re shooting for a Superbowl in 2019-2020. They identified Bitonio as one of the building blocks. What better time to sign him than when there’s no pressure and he’s coming off a season where he spent a bunch of time on IR. His value would only be higher next year, probably quite a bit higher. Give him a ‘monster’ deal now to avoid having to give him a bigger ‘monster’ deal next year.

Solid move.that’s because Florio is dumber than a box of rocks. A monstor extention with a big cap hit this/next season still leaves us monster cap room. Great move.

NFL.com is calling it a 6-year extension.
Is he 51 mil spread over 6 years and not 5? Or are they including the year he has on his current contract? For some reason I feel like they do that some times. I’d feel I lot better about this being a 6 year deal.
