The Browns released their new uniforms today. Unlike the ‘new’ logo designs, the uniform changes are significant.
The word “Cleveland” appears right on the front of the jersey above the numbers, and in the place of the vertical stripe down the pants is the word “Browns”. Besides the change in the orange color used, the uniforms are reminiscent of past uni’s, but have been “Nike-fied”. They are form fitting instead of loose, and it looks like they were designed to not have the jersey tucked into the pants.
So what do you think? Sound off in our poll. Images from http://www.clevelandbrowns.com.

When Nike gets to design uniforms it usually ends up looking like something a 12 year old would come up with. I was very glad to see that there is no orange and brown camo, or brown with orange paint splatters or anything else like that. They do look like a more current update to the uniforms instead of a re-imagining of them. That’s a good thing in my book. Am I going to buy one? Hell no. I already have enough Winslow, Edwards, Quinn, and McCoy jerseys taking up space in my closet. Unless they draft a player with my last name I think I’m going to be out of the jersey business for a long time. Yes I know they can customize a jersey, but I think that’s kinda cheesy.

That way you don’t have to grieve over picking the jersey of a player that was either a bust or is no longer playing in Cleveland because he got paid elsewhere. Could the uniforms have been better? Yes. Could they have been worse? Absolutely. All in all, I’d say the design crew did a pretty good job. I’m a little put off with the word “BROWNS” on the pant legs, but I can live with it. A new uniform design change was overdue back in 1999, so I’m glad they tried to do something fresh with the Brown and Orange.
I know I’m not the first one to say this, but the new uniforms won’t mean jack squat unless the front office puts a winner on the field. Winning is the only real antidote for this sports franchise, not fashion shows that come complete with lighted runways. I like Mike Pettine as a head coach, but the jury is still out on Ray farmer as a GM and Jimmy Haslam as an owner of an NFL franchise. I do think that Jimmy’s starting to get it, though. The sooner this organization focuses on winning rather than marketing blitzes, the better off we’ll all be.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!
