ModeratorI’m trying to find links/proof, but apparently, according to a source/reporter, there are now emails between the coaching staff that basically eviscerated the Front Office.
So, theres. that.

KeymasterAre you sure they weren’t sent by Soup?
November 1, 2017 at 2:46 pm #9946soup
ParticipantI actually sent one to the organization this morning. I figure it helped on one GM. maybe it can help move out the calculator club. How hilarious would it be if it was photoshopped to look like it was from the staff?

ParticipantWho’s side am I supposed to be on in this war? The coaches that wanted to throw away a 2nd and a 3rd round pick on AJ McCarron, or the FO that was too incompitent to complete the trade???

Mccaron on over 100 passes had a 97 rating 6TD to 2int and was familiar with Hues offense. Easily start after the bye week. As for the FO.
Wasted a 2nd on Kizer, the worst QB in the draft.
Wasted a first on Peppers who’s only shot at being an NFL player is SS, to play FS.
Passed on Deshaun Watson
Traded Demario Davis without consulting the coaches
Cut Joe Haden without consulting the coaches.
Picked a frail midget in round 1 to be a #1 WR.
Fought with coaches and gave in to them to select Garrett (let me repeat, the coaches had to fight to get the consensus#1 pick)
There is no question. Front office blows.

The coaches. For a number of reasons.
First of all the coaches don’t set nor match prices for players in a trade, that’s all Sashi and the Calculator Club. The coaches just tell them their needs or ask for players, the FO is the side that goes out and does it. So, the FO is who is behind the idiocy of a 3rd and a 2nd for AJ fucking McCarron.
Secondly, I’m inclined to believe that this was intentional rather than plodding buffoonery. That this deal was consummated and then torpedoed through ineptitude to spite Hue because of the ongoing and ever-widening rift between him and his staff and the FO. In that case, fuck Sashi and work-from-home-in-San Diego Depodesta. That’s just beyond petty and unprofessional.
The more and more I watch and listen, the more and more I see a coaching staff just being completely hung out to dry. Every move that Hue has asked for has been rebuffed.
Not to mentnion think about this ridiculous scenario. The Browns missed on QB’s Wentz and Watson, and were unable to work a deal for Jimmy G that would have cost them only a 2nd rounder. Then they apparently offered a 2nd and a 3rd for McCarron, after just recently spending a 2nd on Kizer and a 3rd on Kessler. McCarron is not a franchise QB, but acquiring him at that price sends the message that the Browns are not sold on Kizer and are already waving the flag on him, thus putting them in a position to STILL need a QB, and taking one in the 1st round of next years draft.
That would mean in the last 2 years, the browns would have spent 2 2nd rounders, 2 3rd rounders, and a 1st rounder in this upcoming draft all on QB’s. That if fucking insane. The coaches have nothing to do with any of that idiocy.
You take the side of the coaches on this one and get this self inflicted gunshot of a front office the fuck out of here.

That’s the part I want to focus on. McCarron is not THE GUY. So if the coaches wanted him (albeit maybe as just a last ditch effort to save their jobs), then they’re morons because it’s wasting more resources on QBs that arent franchise level qbs.
That’s my ongoing problem with this FO. Their approach to the QB position is lacksadasical at best. Just take whoever falls to you. Well, that’s not good enough. There’s a reason philly was willing to give us so much and Houston was willing to move up. You need THE GUY in this league to be QB. I don’t know if the FO is waiting for Peyton Manning to fall into their lap or what, but it’s ridiculous.
We don’t need 12 backup QBs. We need 1 franchise qb. McCarron, while providing a slight improvement, fixes nothing.

ParticipantYou know, I’m not an avid reader of this site, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t make good sense over what’s happening. Maybe I’ll tune in more often.

ModeratorThe guy in that article has the exact same idea as I do. A dark horse candidate to shock everyone to take over the Browns . Peyton Manning.
It’s no where near as crazy as it sounds.

ParticipantYou mean that fellow Tennessean checkerboard who Haslam used to line his pockets with sewn-in $100 bills?
No, not THAT guy.
Seriously…you think he could John Elway (as a GM, not what he did in the 80s) this team? Nothing against the guy, always been a fan. But this IS the Browns, and if it’s anything we’ve learned over the years, it’s that nothing works.

ModeratorSeriously you think he could John Elway this team?
I do. I also think that he would consider it a challenge. Peyton Manning is probably the most cerebral QB to ever play the game, he’s up there with Bernie. He’s also a fiery competitor, and a winner. There’s no way he would tolerate the stupid monkey shit going on around here. There’s no way he would tolerate the losing. That’s the biggest problem with this organization, they tolerate losing. They (and when I say they, I paint with a broad stroke and mean all of them. All the regimes since 99) say they don’t, but they do. Manning wouldn’t.
Give him the top spot, have everyone report to him. He and he alone reports to Haslam.
I think it would work.

ParticipantI agree completely. He couldn’t run as a qb,so he had to know defenses inside and out, and know right where to go with the ball before he snap and adjust it on the fly when the play broke down. Don’t tell me he wouldn’t be able to evaluate players and know when a guy is BSing and when a guy knows his stuff. I’m all for it. I just doubt that it happens.

KeymasterI want a guy who has no job whatsoever except to handle disputes between the front office and the coaches. This guy has to know football but has no other role with the team (so he can’t be influenced by either side). Whenever the coaches and FO disagree, each present their case to this guy and his decision is final. That way next year when the front office is saying we should sell our 1st overall pick for 3 firsts and the coaches are saying there is a QB we can’t pass up, this guy gets to decide. This person’s name CANNOT rhyme with Spaslam, but I’m ok if it rhymes with Spanning.
