It’s not looking good for Ray so far.
Round – Player
- 1 – Shelton
1 – Cam Erving
2 – Nate Orchard
3 – Duke Johnson
3 – Xavier Cooper
4 – Ibraheim Campbell
4 – Vince Mayle
6 – Charles Gaines
6 – Malcolm Johnson
7 – Hayes Pullard

Did we really draft him to replace Alex Mack next year and sit the bench this year? Orchard just got his first real taste of action this week and almost none of us noticed, because his effect was minimal. Mayle was cut, we have 3 guys on IR, and a decent FB in Johnson. Cooper hasn’t played at all.
Ray prides himself on finding awesome players late in the draft but he’s had 4 first round picks in the last two seasons, and only 1 of those guys is a starter. One is a complete bust (Gilbert), one is a backup (Manziel), and one isn’t even good enough to replace Schwartz (Erving). It’s not a good sign when undrafted players are beating out your top draft picks in their rookie preseason.

I am not so angry at this pick if this is truly the case. The rest of the draft though besides the 2 players you named has been really bad.
Justin Gilbert in m opinion is the worst pick this franchise has had. How extremely disappointing he can only return kicks. Really garbage.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

That said, everyone was saying how Gilbert was the top CB to come out of the draft last season…nobody could have foreseen the disaster he was by drafting him. He was top notch in his college days. But then, it’s up to Farmer to make sure we don’t end up with players exactly like this so…

While your overall thought is correct, the fact Erving isn’t playing is a very bad sign. Why? Because OL/DL are the easiest NFL transitions to make.
