Bye bye Baker Mayfield. That’s way too much money for a “back up”

$6 mil/year for a backup QB with a history of success in Stefanski’s offense is a steal. Love this signing.

Oh, and Baker makes $8 mil/year. So, math. Ya know.

An upgrade over Stanton, did anyone really think he’d play well if called upon for any length of time? I didn’t.

This is good, we essentially played last year without a backup QB.

I love Baker, but his playing style doesn’t lend itself to not getting hurt once in a while. We can win games with Keenum.

    What does this signing mean?

    Here is what I think:

We needed a solid backup who could win if Baker gets hurt and also someone who knows Stefanski’s offense and can help Baker out. Now we also have the option of having Keenum go into a game if Baker is throwing interceptions like last year.

I like this signing a lot. It makes a lot of sense. There is 10 million guaranteed and Baker isn’t going to break the bank this year or next so the cap hit for the starter and backup isn’t outrageous.

They continue to make moves to solidify the offense and actually have QB depth in a worst case scenario.

Great move. Excellent veteran backup QB with the ability to fit in admirably should Baker go down. Familiarity in the new system. Fantastic addition to the QB room.

Can’t complain about this at all.
