IceKeymasterSo altogether it’s Kizer and a 3rd for Tyrod Taylor and Randall. Taylor is definitely an upgrade, and Randall fills a hole.

ShooterModeratorRaise your hand if you think Taylor is the future of our franchise. (Nobody should have their hand up.)
Raise it if you think he’s better than Kizer, or just about any QB the Browns have had in the last 10 years. (Everyone should have their hand up).
The Browns wanted/desperately needed a capable, veteran QB to bridge the gap until whoever we take in the draft this year is ready. Tyrod Taylor completely fills that need, and does so quite well. He’s not taking us to the Superbowl, but he doesn’t need to and isn’t expected to.
This is a well executed move. Perhaps a bit high-priced by a round, but a move like this was needed. There was no way around something like this happening.

soupParticipantThe bonus with a 1 to 2 read guy like a Taylor is that Haley’s offense is all about getting the ball out fast so the Qb doesn’t get hit. Hopefully he can put us in the W column

ShooterModeratorHe can also make plays with his legs. Putting him in an offense where his job will be to hand off to Barkley, throw to Josh Gordon, and play-action to Landry and run if something breaks down means the browns should win 7-9 games next year.

Hahahahahahahahaha oh man nothing you say can be taken seriously ever again. Deshone Kizer was the worst QB in the NFL last year by a mile and couldn’t even win 1 fucking game, Tyrod Taylor is a Pro-Bowler with a TD/INT ratio of 51 to 18 on 62% completions, a career rating of 92 and has taken his team to the playoffs.
Just find another sport to talk about. Seriously. Be a soccer fan. Maybe check out Major League Lacross. Bowling. Something. Anything. Anything but football because you are just lost in the desert, aimlessly wandering from dune to dune with no hope of rescue.

ParticipantThis is a brilliant move, and if you think any differently you really don’t understand football.
First, you want a bridge qb. McCarron and cousins are not coming here on a short cheap contract. They’re both getting 3-4 year deals with lots of guaranteed money, that’s just what the market is. With Bridgewater you don’t know what you’re getting. With McCown, who knows if he would be willing to come back, and if he did, he gets injured in like 50% of the games he plays. Not ideal.
Taylor is a perfect bridge qb. He’s durable, he doesn’t throw a ton of picks. He can play well enough to keep the rookie watching. And he’s got a one year contract, so after this year, we can let him walk and start the qb we draft this year. Which we will draft one, dealing Kizer gauranteed that.
Now for the compensation. “OMG A THIRD ROUNDER!!!” Pump the brakes. First, we have so many picks to go with a ridiculous number of first and second year players, that we can afford to sacrifice some for quality. Second, and more importantly, what do you think happens when Taylor walks next year? Survey says: COMPENSATORY PICK!!! probably a 3rd or 4th, depending how he does for us this year. So, we didn’t lose a pick at all, we really just pushed it back a couple years, and moved back a round or two. Not much mustard for a starting qb.
There’s no reason not to celebrate this move. None, whatsoever.
