Would you like to join the staff at BFT? Awesome! Send me an email at ice456789@gmail.com and tell me which role(s) you think you can handle and make a pitch as to why you’d be an excellent choice. We only need 1 each Website Editor, Social Media Editor, and Draft Guru, but other roles can be filled by multiple people. One person can have more than one role as long as they can handle the time commitment.
Website Editor
Responsibilities: Proof-reading posts and adding SEO content to each post. Quickly posting a story for any breaking news item of import
Time commitment: 1-5 hours per week, but must be available to post breaking news items as they hit and respond in a reasonably short time to posts that are submitted
Skills desired: SEO knowledge helpful, must have good writing skills
Social Media Editor
Responsibilities: Control the Facebook, G+ pages, twitter account of BFT. Draw in users to the site by posting polls, questions, articles, etc to social media.
Time commitment: 1-10 hours per week, availability to post breaking news items is a plus
Skills desired: Thorough knowledge of facebook, G+, twitter, and social media. Ability to pique curiosity in users and draw interest to the site.
Site Moderator
Responsibilities: Keep the forums ‘clean’. Drive conversation to the topic of each thread and keep conversation on that topic. Warn members to keep them within the site guidelines as needed. Work with Admin to solve problems that arise on the forums
Time commitment: 1-10 hours per week, must check site multiple times per day and be able to respond to issues quickly
Skills desired: Able to deal with irrational people in a calm, fair way. Must earn respect on the forums and be able to disagree with people without berating them.
Staff Writer
Responsibilities: Contribute posts and content to the site. Able to provide at least one featured photo to go along with each post
Time commitment: 10 – 60 minutes per week, at least 1 story per week
Skills desired: Ability to draw interest and spark discussion, good writing skills
Draft Guru
Responsibilities: Create mock drafts during the offseason, post knowledgeably about the Browns and draft prospects
Time commitment: varies, would be great if they could be in live chat during at least the first few rounds of the draft
Skills desired: Must be very knowledgable about college players that are draft eligible. Must have demonstrated ability to find suitable prospects in every round (not just the 1st round), name must rhyme with Phil Scrunkle.
Site Contributor
Responsibilities: Contribute posts and content to the site. Able to provide at least one featured photo to go along with each post
Time commitment: 0 – 60 minutes per week, post a story whenever you have something you feel strongly about. No requirement to post frequently.
Skills desired: Ability to draw interest and spark discussion, good writing skills

Make sure you tell kids to stay in school!

May 19, 2015 at 1:15 pm #1310IceKeymasterThanks guys. I just want a website that is always updated and integrates new technology. For example, the site looks and works great on cell phones. That’s a big deal for me. I’m always tinkering to try and make it faster and add features. But really what will make or break the site is you guys and your contributions to the forum. If the forum is thriving then the site will thrive. Also we have a Facebook site which mirrors all the front page posts for any of you guys who are into facebook. https://www.facebook.com/BrownsFootballTalk
I really need someone who can help me manage the social media side, so if anyone is a wizard at social media and has just a little spare time please let me know!

Skills desired: Ability to draw interest and spark discussion, good writing skillsI see just one inherent problem with the job requirements that would disqualify a number of people coming over from the old website . . . GOOD WRITING SKILLS. Sorry, Syd, but I think proper use of a spellchecker should also be a requirement.
Also . . . the title of “Draft Guru” seems a bit too self edifying to suit me. If Phil Scrunkle wants that title, then he can have it. As for me, I’ll settle for Senior NFL Draft Analyst or NFL Draft Analyst . . . because many of you know exactly how anal I can be. I’ll leave it up to Ice456789 to render a decision on the official title, though.
Am I going mad, or did the word THINK escape your lips? You were not hired for your brains, you hippopotamic landmass!
May 27, 2015 at 11:46 am #1398IceKeymasterHow about Senior NFL Guru of Drafting Analysis. Or Senior Analyst, NFL Draft Department.
May 27, 2015 at 12:33 pm #1401BillWunkleParticipantSenior Analyst, NFL Draft Department is fine, thank you.

May 27, 2015 at 1:29 pm #1403the dudeParticipantI was thinking more like “Masta Drafta” as he owned the draft this year. I think that was really about the best article I had read on drafting in years and you were right on the money.

I made you the Senior Draft Analyst. If you want me to change that in the future, let me know!
