I truly think Gilbert is approaching that label. As bad as our first rounders have been, they’ve all at least started a handful of games in their first couple of years, to my recollection. He’s certainly been less of a contributor to wins than Johnny, Richardson and Weeden, thus far. At least Willie Green won us a couple of games, and Big Money made the occasional impact.

September 25, 2015 at 8:31 am #2144the dudeParticipantYou may be right….this pick is look really bad. I normally wait 3 years before calling a player a bust…but he is really not very good.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
September 25, 2015 at 9:15 am #2152IceKeymasterThis might be an easy decision with some other teams, but with the Browns there are SO many options. Here’s a list of our 1st picks in the 1st round since ’99.
Tim Couch
Courtney Brown
Gerard Warren
William Green
Jeff Faine
Kellen Winslow
Braylon Edwards
Kamerion Wimbley
Joe Thomas
Alex Mack
Joe Haden
Phil Taylor
Trent Richardson
Barkevious Mingo
Justin GilbertTake out Thomas, Mack, and Haden and none of the rest of the guys lived up to their draft status. Take out Warren because he did have some productivity. Maybe I’d remove Trent Richardson because we got a 1st back for him (LOL!). Either through injury or suckiness you can make a case for any of the rest being the worst pick.
September 25, 2015 at 9:25 am #2155the dudeParticipantEven though Taylor only played 10 games a season, I would remove him. And didn’t Faine have a pretty solid career after cleveland?
I think William Green would have been good if he didn’t smoke so much weed – so at least he has an excuse. Mingo has played this season…..IDK why we get so excited over the draft. It really has been a failure.

September 25, 2015 at 6:13 pm #2161durakbaneParticipantGotta be Green, Taylor, Richardson, Mingo, and then Gilbert (Thus far)…all of the others had some success in the NFL.
At least the last two have the ability to distance themselves from Green and contribute to our team, but Green and Richardson stand out to me like sore thumbs.
Sadly, I really wanted Green and Richardson to work out. Green is from my area and Richardson seemed like the real deal.
Taylor = injury derailed career, thus far, but I’d say you need to keep him on the list/

September 27, 2015 at 4:33 am #2175MDP Sack AttackParticipantTrent Richardson had 1200 total yards and 12 TDs as our starting running back during his rookie year, and showed enough promise to bring back a first round pick in trade a year later. Gilbert had 25 tackles and 1 pick his rookie year while being outplayed by both a fourth round pick and an undrafted rookie, and cannot even get onto the field this year.
I don’t even see it as a remote comparison.
September 28, 2015 at 12:32 pm #2206soupParticipantJoe Haden = AWFUL. But overall I’d have to go with Trent Richardson.

I find it funny you always find our best players to hate on. Like, the rest are much more worst than Joe Haden and he guards the best receivers in the world. I see you are carrying your tradition on from forum to forum. At least you are consistently stupid.

Brandon Marshall roasted him in game 1.
ROOKIE Beckham roasted him for a TD in week 2
ROOKIE Cooper roasted him for 134 yards week 3
So you’re saying I’m right – corners are the BIGGEST waste of a 1st round draft pick because according to you – they shouldn’t be able to cover the oppositions #1 WR.

September 29, 2015 at 3:35 pm #2218the dudeParticipantThere are only 2 cb’s on the field soupid. If they are throwing the ball it is going to one side or the other. I don’t expect corners to be perfect like you.
You are an extremist. If he would give up 1 touchdown, you think he is terrible.
We are a bad team. He is one of the best players on this team. Quit being a moron. It gets old.

Haden got torched for 134 yards by a ROOKIE. Haden also went out of the game with injury for a bit. While he was out – the Raiders DID NOT ATTACK HIS REPLACEMENT. They specifically went after him in the game without really looking elsewhere. A corner picked in the top 10 of an NFL draft should not have guys consistently throwing the ball his way. They should be avoiding it.
