Browns can’t find a way to win in overtime

How do you know you’ve been a Browns fan for a long time? When your defense holds Peyton Manning to 3 and out in overtime, the Browns have the ball at midfield, and you’re not at all shocked when we find a way to lose. Any other fanbase would have felt a roller-coaster of emotion as we took the lead, then fell behind, then tied it up, lost the overtime toss, stopped Manning, got the ball back, then gave them the ball right back and lost. All I was thinking is that I have to try to remember that sequence of events so I get it right when I type a story about how we lost (and I’m not sure I got it 100% right).
The Broncos defense was for real. McCown’s amazing string of performances came to an end as he completed barely 50% of his passes and had two crushing interceptions, one returned for a touchdown. McCown may be only human, but Barnidge was still able to haul in two touchdowns despite getting extra attention. He wasn’t the only bright spot. The Browns running game made its first real appearance all season and the addition of Turbin finally makes sense. His stats (10 runs for 27 yards) don’t show how well he did. He blasted through defenders and gained yards where there were none to be gained. Duke Johnson also had a good outing and showed some great moves. Travis Benjamin had another fantastic receiving day hauling in 9 passes for 117 yards. My first impression was that the defense had a great day but that’s because we’ve been used to such terrible outings from them. Dansby grabbed two Manning passes and scored once which makes him a far better receiver than Dwayne Bowe. Mingo also leaped about 12 feet in the air for an interception. Really though I don’t know if the defense had a great day or if Manning just had a terrible day. This is not the Peyton Manning we’re used to, that is for sure.
The Browns face the Rams this week.
