He’s the only fullback on the roster, so he’ll be the starting fullback, but not necessarily a “starter” in the technical sense. They’ve been talking about getting a fullback from the moment they hired Stefanksi, so this makes sense.
And FYI, the article mentions that he’s available because he doesn’t have a role in new offensive coordinator PAT SHURMUR’S offense, so that should tell you this is a great move.

I checked, and you’re correct, they signed FB Johnny Stanton in January. I don’t think he’s ever played in a game, as he was on the Vikings practice squad last year.
Also, the article about Stanton that I found said this is a very weak FB draft class, and there were no FBs invited to the senior bowl, FWIW.
