Browns lose to Raiders 27-20
The Browns took a beating at home in all phases of the game, but almost managed to come back. As Pettine announced, Josh McCown started at QB and had a terrible first half. Despite the chants of “Johnny” from the hometown crowd, Pettine opted to stick with his starter. McCown had a much better 2nd half and ended the game with 341 yards and two touchdowns, but the nail in the coffin was when McCown tossed a ball up for grabs and Charles Woodson came down with it, McCown’s only interception of the day.
The Browns were outplayed in the trenches both on offense and defense. On offense, McCown had very few clean pockets to pass from and the Browns running game generated only 39 yards. On defense we were again unable to stop a running game. Latavius Murray racked up 139 yards on the ground. We also didn’t get pressure on Derek Carr. He worked comfortably from the pocket all day and the Browns didn’t record a single sack.
A few Browns had notably good performances. Andy Lee had another great day punting. Hartline was absolutely clutch when we needed him and most of his 96 yards came late in the game. Gary Barnidge had a fantastic day hauling in 6 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.

September 28, 2015 at 9:48 am #2198IceKeymasterWelcome to the forum @latrina312. I totally forgot to mention how Haden got completely embarrassed by a rookie. Not sure how that slipped my mind.

The blown 3rd down opportunities by the defense and unacceptable penalties (mugging the punter when we had them backed up deep) demoralized me all afternoon, so much I could barley get into the last minute drive….
World Champion 1920 Akron Pros still undefeated!
September 28, 2015 at 12:19 pm #2205soupParticipantSpecial teams and the idiot special teams coach lost this game. We lose by 7 — the Radiers 3 and ut – then we stupidly rough the punter. Follow that up with a muff by Benjamin that turned a 50 yard drive for a tie into an attempt at a 99 yard drive for a tie.
Granted the defense didn’t help matters at all. But the ST added a TD by putting them out there after a 3 and out
Freedom!!!

When they announced McCown was going to start, I basically decided not to waste my afternoon why the weather was still nice.
Hue Jackson is a loser.
September 28, 2015 at 3:08 pm #2213LatrinaParticipantI live in Tampa. Lifelong long Browns fan. I think there’s absolutely nothing to look forward to this year. An old Journeyman QB, Coaches who are not preparing players, play calling sucks and The young first round QB on the bench.
Horrible. I can’t see the fans getting excited for a mediocre defense that was hyped by coaches and no weapons on offense. No running game. Crowell had 10 carries for 36 yards?September 29, 2015 at 3:36 pm #2219the dudeParticipantI live in Tampa. Lifelong long Browns fan. I think there’s absolutely nothing to look forward to this year.
