2017 #26 overall vs 2016 #30 overall. Decieving stat when looking at the “overall” as we actually are producing 3 LESS yards per game in 2017.

    2017 14.8 PPG vs. 2016 16.5 PPG

2017 36 giveaways vs 2016 25 giveaways (to put this into perspective – Kizer alone has 25 giveaways this year. Overall QBs have thrown 11 more ints this year than last year. If Kizer does start the last year we can probably add a minimum of 4 more to that)

Rushing is about equal (#17 this year #19 last year – difference of .3 YPC)

Passing is about equal. #26 this year #28 last year. .5 YPA more last year.

QB rating dropped dramatically from 77 in 2016 to 60 in 2017.

Our decline in offense is clearly attributed to the worst QB play in the NFL. It’s so bad that we are rated as a team at 60.7 QB rating. The team ahead of us at #31 has a 73 rating. Our combined rating this year at the QB position is the worst in the NFL since the 2010 Carolina Panthers posted a 57. Oddly they were lead by another pile of shit Notre Dame (never draft anyone from that shithole) QB Jimmy Clausen – another ND product that shouldn’t have been drafted.

I’m sorry, but you don’t know how to use stats. Based on all the stats you provided, you came to the conclusion that ‘our decline in offense is clearly attributed to the worst QB play in the NFL.’

Here are the stats you provided:
2016 ranked 30th in offense. 2017 ranked 26th in offense. You disavow this stat because we are producing 3 less yards per game.
You actually should have disavowed this stat because it doesn’t contribute to the conclusion you came up with. This doesn’t talk about just the QB, it talks about the offense in general. Also a difference of 3 yards per game is not statistically significant. It could mean our offense stayed exactly the same but other teams go worse. Finally it could mean that yardage is not a great measure of an offense.

You say rushing is “about equal (#17 this year #19 last year – difference of .3 YPC)” I don’t want to go into a mathematical discussion of standard deviation but .3 YPC CAN be statistically significant. In other words our rushing game may actually be significantly better. Also again you’re only relying on one stat; yardage. This is not a perfect measure of rushing.

“QB rating dropped dramatically from 77 in 2016 to 60 in 2017.”
Because of the amount of statistics included in this number, it is a better barometer of QB success. HOWEVER it may also be very affected by the talent of the WR’s we have on the roster. I contend that for most of the season we had not only the worst WR’s in the league, but the worst WR’s IN THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE. That makes stats like QBR meaningless.

I’m not in any way saying that we shouldn’t address the QB situation. I’m merely saying that you started with a conclusion, hen picked stats to try to support your conclusion, and failed to see that those stats only lead to the conclusion that as a team our passing game sucks. They fail to single out one player as the one and only cause.

Trump would call it ‘fake statistics’. We all know it as Souptistics.

Why the hell are you apologizing for that? It’s true.

So 11 more interceptions in 2 less games isn’t on the QB? While I get there are wrong route ints, etc, these aren’t those variety.

I never said they weren’t. All I said is that you don’t know how to use stats.

If hue were smart ha ha ha he would have at least tried to simplify his paly book to help his young QB or tried harder to use his running game more. If the departed Sashi had been smarter then our QB would have been named Carson rather than Deshone. nuff said.

The two things I notice about our offense that have stayed pretty consistent from 2016 through 2017:

    1. Our QB play is really, really bad – regardless of who’s back there.
    2. Hue Jackson puts a TON of faith in our QB play in key situations.

It’s amazing to me how despite the fact that he shits on his QB in every post-game presser and tries his best to shift the blame away from himself, Hue calls the game like he has Tom Brady back there.
