1 YR prove it deal 4 mil could go to 6 with incentives, the Browns tried what 413 times to get him last season.

I highly object to Mary Kay saying “the Browns get their edge-rusher”. Is he even an upgrade?

We haven’t resigned Adrian Clayborn, who wasn’t a starter last year (maybe he started after OV’s injury).

Clayborn started over Takk in Atlanta. So, I’d say no. Not an upgrade.

Browns also got this guy as a injury waiver claim. So there is some potential as well. He had the same PFF pass rush grade as myles garrett in college. Thing is he was doing it in the mountain west.

I heard he was wicked good in elementary school.

Clayborn was a seven year veteran when he started over McKinley when he was a rookie. The Browns released Clayborn so I don’t see them resigning him.
Being opposite Garrett should help McKinley a lot.

Higgins, Jackson, McKinley, and Roberts are all extremely competent veterans. They won’t carry you to the playoffs, but if they have to play a lot of snaps they won’t be the reason you lose a game.

Good GMs fix their “need” positions with a two-fold approach. Step one is plug the holes with free agents who can start, give average performance, and won’t break the bank. We’ve done that. Step two is targeting players in the draft who can steal the playing time from these veterans by the end of the season. I fully expect us to draft a WR, DE, DT, and LB for exactly this purpose.

The exception to this is spending big in free agency to sign a player in his prime at a position of need. You can only responsibly do this once or maybe twice in an off-season. We did this with our biggest need, which was safety.
