Sounds like we want to get him signed up before he heads off to interview in New York (that interview has not been scheduled, which is a good sign for us).
The article also states that he might have possibly been offered a major say in personnel, a further sign that we won’t be pursuing a major name for GM.
Signing Hue would be a best case scenario, in my opinion. He’s the only candidate on the table who would be exciting to me (with all due respect, I’m not as much of a Lovie Smith fan as the rest of the forum).
Get him!I’d be ecstatic for Hue – Smith, however, is my top choice. HE got Rex Grossman to the Super Bowl. Since he got fired after going 10-6 in Chicago – the Bears wins have dropped drastically. Tampa was on the right path. Next year they would have vied for playoffs.
That said – Hue Jackson is who I wanted before Smith got fired. If we lan Hue I’d be extremely impressed. With that being the case – I can only assume our next coach will be some lame duck like New England’s DC or another pointless schlub.
Freedom!!!

Updated.
Haslam is skipping the owners meeting, which is a big deal and means something is up, as this is the meeting where the vote for the LA teams will be held.
Jackson is scheduled to interview in New York Thursday. The 49ers, also in pursuit of Jackson, are set to interview Tom Coughlin.
I’m sure the Browns would want to make a move before either of those interviews happen. If he’s not signed here by tomorrow, I doubt we land Hue.

the dudeParticipantI am not keeping too up with the search just what I am reading here……Any chance we interview Coughlin?
I like Coughlin – I don’t know if I would like him here, but I like him. He may be too old and stubborn to work with anyone. But he is a winner and a great coach.
Hue Jackson is a loser.

IceKeymasterThere’s not much to keep up with.
IMO there is zero chance we even look at Coughlin. They are really looking for someone young who will embrace the analytics, not someone who has been doing it one way forever. They’ll take a guy with adaptability over a guy with rings.

With doing so, they want to change the entire mentality of the program. What better way than to bring in a successful coach who is just crazy and mean enough to whip these guys into shape.
Of course, I am sure they are also looking at his price tag and thinking about the money coming out of their pocket. BrownsCorp, Inc. cares about one thing and one thing only – the money baby!! I don’t see Coughlin picking up a money phone anytime soon!
Hue Jackson is a loser.

DawgPoundDudeParticipantHue Jackson apparently had a second interview today. And thought of highly enough to send his old lady to the owners meeting that sent the Rams back to LA.
