Damn it. That typo in the thread title will drive me nuts.

There’s no logic in this. Maybe this is Dorseys FU send off to Haslam since he’ll be fired at years end for sticking with Kitchens for no reason

How are y’all judging the trade without knowing what we got in return?!?

A 2021 4th round pick. So the next GM and coach get an extra 4tg. Oh yay

That is better than i expected, but I’m judging it because the FO has been, well, WEIRD regarding Avery all season. Coming off the year he had, and with the release of Jamie Collins, I think everybody expected him to have a big role in 2019.

Then, he’s inactive all season, even with Kirksey’s injury, and who was it, Kitchens or Wilks, says last week he’s a hell of a player, and he’d make a huge impact if he were active. Huh?

Now they ship him out for an asset that won’t help the team until, at best, the 2021 season. If the player ends up making the team at all.

    It’s weird.

Just spitballing, but I just saw that Washington is now publicly saying they want at least a 1st for Trent Williams. Before, they said they wouldn’t trade him.

If this is part of an attempt to gather draft capital to make a move for Williams, I will lose all faith in Dorsey. While we need offensive line help, we don’t need a 31 year old with a huge contract.

Steve Wills on why Genard Avery was traded “you’ll have to ask the HEAD COACH and GM.”

I’m thinking Kitchens has been scratching him and Wills wanted him on the field when you couple that with Wilks stating previously that Avery would be great “if he could get on the field.”

    I smell yet another rift

That’s an interesting conspiracy theory you’re trying to create. Out of “You’ll have to ask the head coach and GM”. Out of that you came up with Kitchens scratching him against Wilk’s wishes, and that must be causing a rift.

First off, I couldn’t find Wilks offering that quote, can you post your source for me? Here’s the quote I did find from Wilks regarding Avery’s inability to get on the field:

When you look at the big picture, sometimes it equates to special teams. The rotation that particular week up front on defense, is it more of a running team? Do we need more of a run-stopper? I think Genard brings a great skill set. I think he has tremendous speed off the edge. I think he has the ability to get to the quarterback and affect the game in a positive way.

That pretty much says all you need to know.

There’s no reason to include the HEAD COACH when talking about the trade if he was for it. Talk to the GM would be the answer alone.

You’re splitting hairs here. All he said was “that’s above my pay grade.” That’s it. Guess who’s above his pay grade? The HC and GM. He didn’t say anything else. He didn’t insinuate anything else. He just said it wasn’t his decision, talk to the higher ups. Which is the right thing for him to say.

I agree with Dawg E. Dawg. I can’t find Wilks saying anything near what you quoted in the last few days. I’ve tried. I listen to almost all the coach pressers. Soup, if I’m missing it then post a link. Otherwise I’ll just have to assume you’re mis-remembering or misspeaking.

You aren’t, I’m misremembering. I still believe something is off. I feel like when we lose this week things will come unhinged

It’s ok. My wife says I mis-remember all the time. Birthdays, anniversaries, childrens names…

Ah yes the old “if there’s anything flammable laying anywhere around there must be fire” approach.

We traded a 5th round pick that never plays for a 4th rounder. The horror. The absolute dysfunction. WE’RE IMPLODING!!!!!!!!

    2-5

    4th and 9 draw

4th and 11 instruct your punt team to take a penalty so you can save a timeout and go for it on 4th and 16

“Save 3 timeouts” to score twice in 96 seconds while you already have an 8 point lead.

Don’t run with Chubb 4 times in a row from the 5

Come out throwing in windy downpours 3 times straight

    Lead the NFL in penalties

Yep, all is going just as planned…

And yet none of that has anything to do with Avery…..

    At all.
