On a personal level, this guy sucks. We’re lucky to be able to move him. He’s been struggling even in special teams.

At least we are getting something for nothing.

    Expect Gilbert to go next.

What in the hell does Belicchick see in Lombardi? He trusts everything the idiot says. I’mean guessing we got a conditional 6th.

    I’m betting it was a 7th.

That is amazingly good. Too bad it might as well be a high 6th, considering who we made the trade with.

I wonder what a defensive genius that knows how to use players properly can do with him?

I’m guessing that just like Sheard, he’s probably going to have his best season as a pro under Belicheck.

That said……..so be it. It just wasn’t working here, he was obviously out of place. Ray Horton knows him very well from his last stint here and clearly had very little faith in him to do what the job called for. It’s an extra 5th. Let’s see what the calculator club can do with that and just be done with it. It’s one more wasted 1st round pick, but it’s one more wasted 1st round pick that’s gone that we can move on from.

I wish him well. I wish us weller.

Cowherd brought up Sheard as well as an example of the Pats getting the better of the Browns. The difference with Sheard is:

    1) I believe he walked via FA, we didn’t trade him. I was pissed when they let him walk because it just meant we had to draft guys like Mingo and Orchard to replace him. “Running on ice,” I think, is what soup called it.

2.) Sheard was a good player for the Browns before he left. Mingo has never been good aside from his first game or 2 his rookie year. It’s not like Sheard suddenly turned into a different guy when he became a Pat.

Honestly, I think this is gonna be a case where everybody gives BB credit based on his rep, but it ends as a failed experiment, but it doesn’t matter cuz the pats still win.

I’m calling this a win for the Browns, straight up. I really wanted to see Mingo turn into a player, but they’re better off with a 5th. Oh, and if you’re keeping track at home, you need to root against:

    Eagles
    Titans
    Pats

For the Browns to get better picks next year.

Re: Sheard, yeah he had a better year with the Pats. Every pass rusher would do better on the Pats than on the Browns because they’re surrounded with a lot more talent. Sheard saw a lot fewer double-teams and had more time to get to the QB because the Pats CB’s do a better job.

Sheard sucks under Pettine because Pettine, as I warned you all when he was hired, was a terrible defensive mind. Sheard was far and away the best LBER on our team.

Wish they’d have showed all his plays, that one was obviously the one that was negated (article says a fumble he caused was negated by a penalty. WR was raped on the play). That said – in this clip the RB absolutely owned him on the block. Formed a perfect pocket – QB didn’t bother stepping up.Reality is we can’t judge him there until the 2nd half of the season (unless he tears it up right away). If he sucks for 8 games it’s no huge deal as it’s a totally new system 2 weeks prior to the season starting.

This is the kind of shit that the media reports, and it drives me nuts. I’ll elaborate.

My problem is with initial statement about Sheard having his best season as a pro in NE. Just not true. Look it up, his best season was as a rookie in Cleveland. He was a good player, but he wasn’t what Farmer wanted or some shit so they let him walk.

Just saying, Belichick didn’t sprinkle him with pixie dust or some shit, he was a good player before he went to NE.

Mingo, if he plays well, would be a different story. But, I don’t see it happening. He didn’t put up great numbers in college, and he was only drafted because of what he did in shorts in Indy. Consider me skeptical.

    Oh, but it IS true.

His best season in Cleveland was indeed, as you mentioned, his rookie year.

    16 games. 16 starts.

    8.5 sacks, 40 tackles.

Last year in New England 13 Games, 1 start. 8 sacks, 28 tackles.

But let’s not take away those 3 games, and let’s also not take away the palying time on the field he loses out on by not starting.

In 2015, he averaged .615 sacks per game. Over a 16 game stretch, that would give him 9.8 sacks (we’ll round up to 10). He had 28 tackles, or 2.15 per game. That would be 35.5 over a 16 game stretch. Yes, lower than the 40 he had in Cleveland, buuuuuuuuuuut, he was coming off the bench, and playing only situationally, which skew the numbers.

In less games and limited time, he was more productive last year in N.E. than he ever was in Cleveland when played in and started the whole season. Sorry, it just is what it is.

He was a good player, but he wasn’t what Farmer wanted or some shit so they let him walk.

    I completely agree.

Just saying, Belichick didn’t sprinkle him with pixie dust or some shit,

Mmmmmmm, disagree. There’s a lot of bums that played in New England that have rings, and the only reason they do is because they spent most of their time in practice dusting their shoulders off. Bill is an unholy, spellbinding wizard, accept it.
