Thoughts?
The only thing I accept as fact is that nothing ‘leaks’ from the draft room unless the Browns want it to. Given that fact, what can we read into it?
1) The simple answer – the Browns want to trade down and want other teams to know it.
2) Tinfoil hat answer – The Browns really want their choice of QB at 2nd overall, but knows other teams want to jump them and trade with the Titans. Saying we’re willing to trade down tells teams we’re not sold on QB’s and maybe they don’t need to trade with the Titans. A team like the Cowboys might think they could actually get their QB without trading, and teams like the Eagles and Rams could be looking at trading lower in the top 3 without having to go after 1st overall. Long story short, it lowers demand for the #1 pick and therefor lowers what teams are willing to offer, in return lowering the possibility of a trade going through.April 13, 2016 at 10:51 am #4764Dawg E. DawgParticipantDoesn’t mean much to me. You see rumors like this every year for teams at the top of the draft.
They could be serious, they could be playing defense, they could just be throwing a Hail Mary to see if anybody is willing to make an RG3-knock-your-socks-off-too-good-to-pass-up-offer-you-can’t-refuse.
Doesn’t mean anything until a trade is actually done.

Enough trading down. Take the QB at #2 and be done with it.
Freedom!!!
