Haven’t seen the details, but it was restructured to save cap space.
I posted this because most everybody thought it was a foregone conclusion that Hubbard would be released. With a restructure, we’re not paying him less, it’s just spread out over the remaining 3 years of his deal, and it means we’re committed to keeping him this year.
So, at about $7 mil, where do you think they plan on playing him? Conklin should damn well be the RT, so is Hubbard the RG or LT?? He’s too expensive, I think, for them to be thinking of him solely as a backup.
My hope is they’re keeping him as RG and emergency LT if the rook at #10 isn’t ready. Thoughts?
Addendum: what was initially reported as a restructured contract is actually now called a reworked contract, which is really saying they burnt his old contract and he signed a new one.
Much more reasonable now, max cash value of $5 mil in 2020. Could conceivably be a backup tackle contract. His previous one, was not, IMO.
