Downtown Cleveland is being turned into a real jewel on the lake. Renovations, expansions, new construction, it’s all exciting to see take shape.

That said, I have no idea what the purpose or need for a new stadium could possibly be. It’s not even 20 years old. They just poured over 100 million in renovations into it. Saddling the taxpayers of Cuyahoga county with an unnecessary billion-dollar boondoggle is about as nonsensical as an idea could possibly be.

I don’t get how or why this is even being discussed.

It’s because ticket sales are terrible. Teama pull this shit all the time – build a new stadium to increase ticket sales. If the city pays for it, then the Haslem will just make out on it.

It’s 10 years away, they’re just planning ahead. Still a giant waste of money, and I’m with Dude on their being a 50/50 chance this is a ploy to get out of town.

The Cavs just strongarmed a ton of money out of the city to build a giant hideous glass box around the entirety of the Q, but they’re actually a great team which draws a ton of money.

Still no plans to expand the waterfront area on the lake into more walkable/attractive spaces, and public transit is falling to shit. This town doesn’t really have a great grasp on priorities.
