The article clearly states the problems with sample size, but 96%? That’s insane. I hate changing the rules of the game as much as anyone, but I’m also never going to play the “you make a ton of money and that’s what you signed on for” card. Especially having watched what has become of Bernie (who has his other demons, for sure, but the concussions are clearly the major issue with him).

How do my fellow Dawgs feel about this issue? How much does it concern you? What (if any) steps would you like the league to take?

Football is a violent sport. I don’t know if there is a way to make it safer unless we wrap people’s heads in bubble wrap. The NFL has spent millions on technology to improve helmets but it’s never going to be good enough. These guys are taking blows that are the equivalent of running head first into a brick wall over and over and over. No helmet can protect against that sufficiently for there not to be long term effects.

I don’t worry about the NFL players as much, because “they make a ton of money and that’s what they signed on for” but what about the people who don’t get paid? What about high school and college players, most of whom play for joy of the game? Those are the people I’m really worried about.

The problem is with the rules. I see helmet to helmet hits every single week with no penalty. If they have a stricter policy on helmet to helmet hits it would reduce CTE.
