    It’s a damning article.

    But it also presents why, especially at this point in the season, Johnny should start. He has to either figure all of this out by learning from game situations, or fall into the QB bust abyss.

    I understand that Johnny needs to stand in the pocket and make reads, but the fact is those pockets are collapsing at a rapid rate, and one far too quick for him to be able to do anything other than run out of it and improvise. Josh McCown has done a fantastic job this year of standing in there, and it’s getting him absolutely mangled while he does it. He’s getting blasted every other play. No one can reasonably be expected to play QB at a high level under those circumstances. If Johnny stood in there, he’d just be getting blown up too. That the game is faster for him still exacerbates the problem even more. He can’t make reads and execute plays unless he learns how to do it, and he can’t learn how to do it unless he plays in the games.
