Last years was worse. I expected to lose to Baltimore, I expected shit stomp the Titans, and we got shit stomped instead.
The bright side is if we lose to Cincy, we can start talking about the 2021 draft. So we have that going for us.

Our LB’s were thoroughly embarrassed.
Our safeties seemed to not understand the defense half the time, probably because our starting SS just joined the team last week.The NFL for pandering societal pressure and filling the field with political slogans (all from one side of the political spectrum). NO POLITICS IN MY FOOTBALL

They stopped caring. They clearly recognize an ill equipped coach and Stefanski is Freddie part 2. Mayfield will be a back up elsewhere next year. Next draft won’t be worth evaluating because that guy will suffer the fate of multiple regimes.

Our Linebackers are definitely as bad as feared. Goodson and Takitaki are simply too slow to effectively blitz or drop into coverage. Maybe Wilson will help, but letting Schobert and Kirksey both walk was a terrible move.
Hodge needs to go. I have no idea why he was on the field so much, maybe it was just to make Beckham’s routes look crisp by comparison.
Schobert was 100% the brains of our defense. Our LB’s especially are lost without him. Wilson’s return will make us much more athletic but sadly not any smarter. I’m not sure that Takitaki, as much as I like him, is an NFL starter or ever will be.
Also while splitting the carries between Chubb and Hunt is a big positive for our team, it’s gonna wreck my fantasy football season.

Stefanski is the opposite of Freddie. Freddie was all personality and no brains. Stef is all brains and no personality.

The problem is that Sunday’s linebackers were both unathletic and without brains. Since there’s no brains sitting on the sidelines or on the IR, I’ll settle for a big dumb guy who is at least fast enough to get to the spots he’s supposed to be.
Takitaki has concrete shoes, and at least twice his blitz did nothing but give Jackson an opening for a big pass.

I forgot one glaring Game Ball. For the first time in recorded history I’m giving a game ball to….
THE REFS. They stayed the F out of the game and didn’t make any glaring mistakes. There’s been talk that the NFL told the refs to ‘take it easy’ in week 1 because of the lack of preseason. If that’s the case then lets put them all in tacky Hawaiian shirts and put a margarita in their hand and let them ‘take it easy’ for the rest of the season.

There were a couple incidents of holding against our receivers which went uncalled, but they let a couple push-offs happen as well. I’m fine with letting both go, ad long as it’s even.
