    Ganeball:

    Denzel Ward

    Goat:

    Defensive line got owned

Gregg Williams. He’s garbage as advertised as a DC.

Refs: I’ve never seen them purposefully tilt a game in my life. All off season they yelled about the head shots. Njoku gets a headshot plain as day no call.

Obvious holding on Ben 3rd and 7 no call

Haden uses Gordon’s head to hoist himself in the air on a deep ball. No call

Gordon blocks a guy and it’s flagged for 15 yards

I literally called flags on the Browns BEFORE the kick off on two occasions.

Gregg Williams. He gets two goats because he’s so terrible at that job.

Haley’s offense sucked, but at least it’s brand new o really.

    Colquitt. Cut him for that

Peppers. Never let him return it again. Fair catch with 15 yards in front of him?

What the fuck game were you watching? You just witnessed a superbowl-quality defense unfortunately stuck with a terrible offense. Myles Garrett got owned!?! Holy shit Soup, you’ve officially lost it.

Yes. Taylor better learn how to throw the ball in less than 3 seconds or I’ll be calling for Baker. And I DON’T want Baker playing this early. It’s bad for him.

    gameballs: Williams and D. 6 Take aways…Damnnnnnnn

Goats LT C RT…They played like other teams backups and an UDFA.

Hard to know anything about Taylor with horrible line play IMO.

If i am John Dorsey, the OL is my #1 area of concern until they prove otherwise.

1st 3 picks as of right now IMO should be LT RT and C.

And the dude gets a consilation prize because there is no way in heaven or hell Hue Jackson keeps his job with O line play like we just saw.

What kind of idiocy is this statement? Do I have to put your sigline back up? Dude, the D-line was disruptive the entire game. forced Big Ben into some terrible decisions and causing multiple turnovers and killing drives. Myles Garret looked like a walking horror movie for Pitt. They consistently got penetration and were killing Pitts O-line all game.

What in the holy fuck are you talking about dude?

Your ability to zero in on this stat baffles me. We cause 77 turnovers, multiple offensive fuck-ups, a ton of penalties…but fucking Williams again. Maybe take a look at the game instead of the stat sheet?

Gameball: Browns. We didn’t lose a season opener to Pittsburgh for the first time since…who gives a shit, I’ll take it.

A quick gameball to Myles for his penalty on Roethlisberger. While it cost the Browns, it was good to see a Browns defender get some licks on a Steelers QB. God knows James Harrison teed up our guys plenty of times.
Now someone needs to smack Watt.

Also Soup, the defense had 6 takeaways.

Last year, for the ENTIRE YEAR, we had 13.

If the offense looks even remotely capable and can convert just 3 of those turnovers into Points, the Browns win this game handily.

I doubt anyone would be bitching if we won this game 38-21 and I doubt you’d be poo pooing the defense.

I disagree with this. Taylor wouldn’t get rid of the damn ball. I had time to type “Throw the fucking ball” in chat before he threw the ball. He looked like an indecisive rookie out there, not the guy who was pretty studly in preseason. Yeah they got to him sometimes, but more often he just took WAY too long to make a decision so he stood around or scrambled around watching the entire play break down. I could hear Haley yelling “GET RID OF THE FUCKING BALL” all the way down here in Florida.

Soup has officially out-souped himself today.

    Defensive line got owned

Gregg Williams. He’s garbage as advertised as a DC.

That may be the soupiest statement ever written.

You live in Pittsburgh. Go outside. Walk to your neighbor’s house. Knock on their door. Ask them if they think the Steelers ‘owned’ Myles Garrett today. Let us know what they say.

saw this on facebook. And the truth hurts..only the Browns can end a losing streak by not winning.

From Pro-Football focus. No grades – but here’s their early look:

“What to make of Myles Garrett? He made two big plays, but couldn’t find a way past left tackle Alejandro Villanueva all game, although he did have more joy late when he moved inside to more of a 5-tech position against guard Ramon Foster. Still, his two big splash plays created points (though his two penalties cost the Browns points).”

“He wasn’t flawless, but Denzel Ward was a standout performer for the Browns. A late pass break up, and a nice break on a ball for an interception were the highlight plays, but he also showed his all-around skill by drawing a flag on a screen while disrupting the rhythm of the play.”

“They didn’t fail to win because of their UDFA left tackle Desmond Harrison. He held up for the most part, though three penalties and some blown assignments made life harder than it should have been. He’ll face more varied pass-rushers than Bud Dupree this year though.”

“The conditions weren’t ideal, but the performance of Tyrod Taylor will have done nothing to quieten those wanting Baker Mayfield to start. He was skittish in the pocket, held onto the ball too long and struggled to get his receivers involved. His saving grace, that he doesn’t throw turnover-worthy balls, failed him with a late pick with the Browns close to field goal range that would have presented an opportunity to win it.”

    Tyrod deserves a goat too.

    Couple things:

For as good as Garret was, he has to take at least A LITTLE grief for that block in the back. It was a dumb dumb dumb move that turned a 27 yard field goal attempt into a 42 yard attempt. Dumb move. Forgivable? Absolutely, especially when you see what else he did in the game. But still, dumb.

Second, you guys are really underestimate
Imaging the impact the rain had. When it let up a little, Taylor looked a lot better. Let’s see how he does in a dome next week before we rush to judgment. Also, it WAS his first game in Todd Haley’s offense. With a bunch of young guys playing together for the first time. If you thought they were going to look like the greatest show on turf from day one, you’re just delusional. Mostly because we don’t play on turf, but also because it’s just not realistic.

Third thing: I don’t want to hear the name Mayfield until the Offensive line is straightened out. Way too many plays that had no chance because of missed blocks.

Fourth: Nick Chubb. You get a goat. Learn how to pass block. I loved the pick and think he’ll be good, but he almost got Taylor killed on multiple occasions.

Oh, and lastly, I need to apologize again to Dorsey for questioning him. The guys he brought in really stood out yesterday (Ward, Randall, Landry, other DBs. Even Hyde did much more than he should have with what he was given to work with). And I can’t think of anybody that was let go that did much of anything for other teams. We might just have a good GM for once.

Oh, and lastly lastly. Joe Haden. Man, the defense fell apart once he left the game. It’s a shame he can’t ever stay healthy. I’m starting to get over cutting him, because he doesn’t help anybody from the sidelines.

Wrong. Dorsey’s letting go of Kizer was a huge mistake. HE won me my fantasy game by 1 point. His pick 6 and fumble worked wonders for me. Stupid Dorsey!

Kizer gonna Kizer, lol. To get Randall for him was a stroke of genius.

I didn’t even touch on Haley. Going back to his Pittsburgh days even, somebody needs to tell him you don’t have to go for it all on 4th and short every fucking time. We could have won it in regulation and he not called that dumb deep ball to Gordon. We didn’t even need the TD at that point. I knee from Pittsburgh to expect that, but man, Hue needs to get that shit out of him.

@dawgedawg the Garrett penalty was really week sauce. Barely touched the guy and I don’t think he meant too…. Its ones of those things where someone just runs in front of you. It made no impact on the game.

He clearly push him in the back though. I agree it made no impact on the game, but it was clearly a penalty, easy call for the refs. They can’t NOT call it when it’s that obvious (though I could use that same logic on the PI no-call when Haden almost ripped Gordon’s head off his body).

It’s just a dumb move he shouldn’t make. There was no reason to. I’m not holding onto that through the season, just giving him a little shit for it.

What I saw yesterday went well beyond stats. I saw two teams that refused to quit, and played to the last whistle. Players that tried to take up the banner and plant it on the other guy’s hill. These guys played their asses off (especially in overtime), and you could see the attitude for what it was…the Steelers refusing to lose to the lowly Browns, while the Browns refused to be bullied anymore and took a playoff-calibur team (with or without Bell) to the brink.

These boys all came to play, despite all the rain and the errors.

And despite all that, I also understand that I’m trying to explain my point of view to some folks who have already passed judgement on this team by the first game of the season…a game that we didn’t lose, by the way.

How often do we get to say that?

Well Haley runs the offense, and Taylor was John Dorsey’s decision. You have to actually know what the fuck you’re talking about and understand facts and reality lest you be looking like a fucking idiot. Which you currently do with that statement because every single part of it was completely wrong.

“What to make of Myles Garrett? He made two big plays, but couldn’t find a way past left tackle Alejandro Villanueva all game, although he did have more joy late when he moved inside to more of a 5-tech position against guard Ramon Foster. Probably the most idiotic thing that’s come out of that idiotic website in some time. I wonder how they’d rate Aaron Rodgers performance last night. “Aside from the come behind win and 3 TD’s in the 4th quarter, Rodgers remained largely ineffective and couldn’t stay on the field for most of the game”.

    Fucking morons.

Did you guys watch the same game I did? The defense caused 6 turnovers. Let keep it real. They had 2 bad series the entire game.

Garrett was all over the place in the game. I think playing him the every defensive play plus special teams was a mistake.

For those who didn’t like the Browns drafting Denzel Ward. Please just say sorry, and admit you were wrong about him.

He played about as well as any rookie CB in his first game that I’ve ever seen. Even on the plaY where he GS e up the TD to Brown, he had great coverage. It was just a perfect throw and perfect catch.
